The Biellese Alps (''Alpi Biellesi'' or ''Prealpi Biellesi'' in Italian language, Italian) are a sub-range of the Pennine Alps located between Piemonte and Aosta Valley (Italy). Etymology ''Alpi Biellesi'' literally means ''Alps of Biellese''; ''Biellese'' is the geographical and historical area surrounding Biella, nowadays included in the province of Biella. Biella
Biella (; pms, Biela; la, Bugella) is a city and ''comune'' in the northern Italian region of Piedmont, the capital of the province of the same name, with a population of 44,324 as of 31 December 2017. It is located about northeast of Turin and about west-northwest of Milan. It lies in the foothills of the Alps, in the Bo mountain range near Mt. Andorno Micca ( pms, Andorn) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Biella in the Italian region Piedmont, located about northeast of Turin and about northwest of Biella. The Istituto Geografico Centrale (IGC, in English ‘’Central Geographic Institute’’) is a privately owned Italian company based in Turin (Piedmont), known for its guide books and hiking maps mainly concerning the Western Alps and their contiguous areas. History IGC was established by Giuseppe Candeletti in 1952. Its first products were some very detailed maps of Turin and the ''Guida Toponomastica di Torino'' (''Toponomastic guide of Turin''). The following year IGC published an Atlante di Milano'' (''Atlas of Milan'') at scale of 1:5,000 . Some year later IGC started with mountaineering publishing, which in those years was expanding in Italy. A mountain is an elevated portion of the Earth's crust, generally with steep sides that show significant exposed bedrock.
