Montaudran
Montaudran () is a suburb of Toulouse situated to the south east of the city (''secteur 5''), by the Hers-Mort river. It is notable thanks to the Aéropostale company and its aerodrome which was the base for the aeronautical pioneers between 1917 and 1933 who established the first commercial air routes with postal flights to Casablanca, Dakar... and on to South America. 500 m further north is a group of two primary schools (originally one boys', one girls') and a nursery school named after one of the Aéropostale pilots, Henri Guillaumet. Montraudan is also the home of a well-frequented sports association with a rugby section. Aerodrome Toulouse-Montaudran Airport, disused since 1 January 2004. The runway is crossed by a road and is situated to the south of and parallel to the Toulouse-Narbonne railway track. Toulouse-Montaudran Airport
Toulouse-Montaudran Airport is a former French airport located in the district of Montaudran in the municipality of Toulouse in the Haute-Garonne department of the region of Occitanie. History Created in 1917 by Pierre-Georges Latécoère, it became a centre for civil aviation and the aeronautics industry. In 1918 "Lignes Aériennes Latécoère" was created, and in 1927 it became the departure point for Aéropostale with pilots based at the airport including Jean Mermoz, Henri Guillaumet, Paul Vachet and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Latécoère, successor to Aéropostale, until the 1970s Breguet, used the airport for repairs to their aircraft. Eventually, Air France Industries used the site for maintenance of their aircraft until 18 December 2003, 18, the date the last flight left the airport. Aéropostale (aviation)
Aéropostale (formally, ''Compagnie générale aéropostale'') was a pioneering aviation company which operated from 1918 to 1933. It was founded in 1918 in Toulouse, France, as ''Société des lignes Latécoère'', also known as ''Lignes aeriennes Latécoère'' or simply "The Line" (''La ligne''). History Aéropostale founder Pierre-Georges Latécoère envisioned an air route connecting France to the French colonies in Africa and South America. The company's activities were to specialise in, but were by no means restricted to, airborne postal services. Between 1921 and 1927 the "Line" operated as ''Compagnie générale d'entreprises aéronautiques'' (CGEA). The Hers-Mort (; ; the "Dead Hers", as opposed to the faster-flowing Hers-Vif, or "Live Hers") is a long river in southern France, a right-bank tributary of the Garonne. Its average flow rate is . Toulouse Tramway
The Toulouse tramway (french: Tramway de Toulouse) is a two-line tram system in Toulouse, Midi-Pyrénées, France, and operates from Toulouse to the suburb of Beauzelle, passing through Blagnac. The Line T1 tramway serves 24 stations, and runs over of a route that is long. Tisséo is the brand adopted in 2002 for the transport network of Toulouse, under the authority of the '' Syndicat mixte des transports en commun'' (SMTC). Tisséo operates two metro lines, two tramway lines, a hundred buses, and shuttle services (bus, mobibus, TAD), with a unified magnetic ticketing and RFID card system.
