The Secretary of State of Montana is one of the elected constitutional officers of executive branch of the U.S. state of Montana. The current Secretary of State is Christi Jacobsen. Christi Jacobsen is an American politician from the state of Montana. A Republican, she is the Secretary of State of Montana. Early life Jacobsen was born in Helena, Montana, and earned her bachelor's degree from Carroll College in 1997 and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Montana in 2000. Career She served as an administrator for the Montana State Auditor's office and the Montana Department of Justice. In 2016, incoming Secretary of State of Montana Corey Stapleton announced that Jacobsen would serve as his chief of staff. Helena, Montana
Helena (; ) is the capital city of Montana, United States, and the county seat of Lewis and Clark County. Helena was founded as a gold camp during the Montana gold rush, and established on October 30, 1864. Due to the gold rush, Helena would become a wealthy city, with approximately 50 millionaires inhabiting the area by 1888. The concentration of wealth contributed to the city's prominent, elaborate Victorian architecture. At the 2020 census Helena's population was 32,091, making it the fifth least populous state capital in the United States and the sixth most populous city in Montana.
