Montana Highway 80 (MT 80) is a north–south state highway in the U.S. State of Montana. MT 80's southern terminus is at U.S. Route 87 (US 87), MT 3 and MT 200 in the community of Stanford and the northern terminus is at US 87 in the town of Fort Benton. The landscape is hilly and rural, and largely used for wheat farming; the road also passes through Arrow Creek Canyon and near the Highwood Mountains. Stanford is a town in and the county seat of Judith Basin County, Montana, United States. The population was at 403 as of the 2020 census. Stanford began with the establishment of a trading post by Thomas C. Power in 1875. In 1908 the town moved about 3 miles to be next to the new railroad. The Judith Basin County Museum is in town. Central Montana Rail
Central Montana Rail, Inc. is a short line railroad operating trackage in Judith Basin, Fergus, and Chouteau Counties, Montana. The company's main line extends approximately , between the towns of Moccasin and Geraldine; the line connects with the BNSF Railway at Moccasin. Most of the current Central Montana trackage was originally constructed by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, as part of its "Northern Montana" line to Great Falls. The southern of line, from Moccasin to Kingston Junction, was originally constructed by the Great Northern Railway as part of its Lewistown, Montana branch. The overall line features four high steel trestles and a -long tunnel. Geraldine, Montana
Geraldine is a town in Chouteau County, Montana, United States. The population was 207 at the 2020 census. The area around the town is an agricultural, largely wheat-producing, region. History Geraldine was originally created as a stop on the Milwaukee Railroad. It was named for Almira Geraldine Rockefeller (or perhaps her daughter, Ethel Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge), the wife of William Rockefeller, the director of the railroad at the time. The Milwaukee Road built a branch line from Harlowton to Great Falls in 1916. The town's wood-constructed railroad depot, also built in 1916, has been restored in recent years, now contains displays on the history of the area, and is a Montana Historic Site which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Montana Highway 3 (MT 3) is a highway in central Montana extending north from Billings to Great Falls. Route description At its southern end, MT 3 begins at I-90 in Billings and travels northwest to US 12 near Lavina – this is the only section of MT 3 that is not concurrent with a US highway. MT 3 joins US 12 and travels west to Harlowton, where it leaves US 12 and joins US 191, and travels north for to Eddie's Corner (near Moore).
