Montage (filmmaking)
Montage (, ''mon-TAHJ'') is a film editing technique in which a series of short shots are sequenced to condense space, time, and information. The term has been used in various contexts. In French, the word "montage" applied to cinema simply denotes editing. In Soviet montage theory, as originally introduced outside the USSR by Sergei Eisenstein, it was used to create symbolism. Later, the term "montage sequence", used primarily by British and American studios, became the common technique to suggest the passage of time. A montage is a French term meaning “assembling shots” or “putting together.” It’s a film technique for putting together a series of short shots that create a composite picture. In simple terms we can say that montage is a series of separate images, moving or still, that are edited together to create a continuous sequence. Montages enable filmmakers to communicate a large amount of information to an audience over a shorter span of time by juxtaposing diff ...

Montage (TV Series)
The ''Montage'' programs, a filmed history of the 1960s and 1970s with a Cleveland perspective, are composed of more than three hundred documentary films which were shown primarily on WKYC-TV, Cleveland's NBC affiliate, from September 1965 to December 1978. The series was produced and directed by Dennis Goulden. History In 1955, NBC forced Westinghouse Broadcasting to trade its NBC-affiliated Philadelphia station WPTZ-TV to NBC in exchange for WNBK-TV in Cleveland. In 1965, NBC was forced to reverse the trade on orders from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Justice Department. When NBC regained control of the Cleveland station, it renamed it WKYC-TV and moved several shows from Philadelphia to Cleveland. One of these was the documentary series ''Montage'', and Goulden became executive producer of the show. ''Montage'' profiled local personalities, such as the director of the Cleveland Orchestra Lorin Maazel and Cleveland Browns coach Paul Brown, and national on ...

Montage (image Software)
Montage is a software toolkit used in astrophotography to assemble astronomical images in Flexible Image Transport System (FITS) format into composite images, called mosaics, that preserve the calibration and positional fidelity of the original input images. It won a NASA Space Act Award in 2006. Montage was developed to support scientific research. It enables astronomers to create images of regions of the sky that are too large to be produced by astronomical cameras. It also creates composite images of a region of the sky that has been measured with different wavelengths and with different instruments; the composite appears as if the area was measured with the same instrument on the same telescope. There is also associated software developed by the Montage user community including Bash and C shell scripts to make mosaics, and the montage-wrapper Python application programming interface, a part of the Astropy project. Montage uses a BSD 3-Clause License, which permits unlimited ...

Photomontage
Photomontage is the process and the result of making a composite photograph by cutting, gluing, rearranging and overlapping two or more photographs into a new image. Sometimes the resulting composite image is photographed so that the final image may appear as a seamless physical print. A similar method, although one that does not use film, is realized today through image-editing software. This latter technique is referred to by professionals as "compositing", and in casual usage is often called "photoshopping" (from the name of the popular software system). A composite of related photographs to extend a view of a single scene or subject would not be labeled as a montage, but instead a stitched image or a digital image mosaic. History Author Oliver Grau in his book, ''Virtual Art: From Illusion to Immersion'', notes that the creation of an artificial immersive virtual reality, arising as a result of technical exploitation of new inventions, is a long-standing human practice throu ...
