Monsieur Taxi
''Monsieur Taxi'' is a 1952 French comedy film directed André Hunebelle and starring Michel Simon and Jane Marken and Jean Brochard.Bessy & Chirat p.189 It is about Pierre Verger, who is nicknamed Monsieur Taxi and always in company of a smart young dog called "Gangster". It was shot at the Saint-Maurice Studios in Paris and on location around the city including in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés. The film's sets were designed by the art director Lucien Carré. Plot In Paris Monsieur Taxi comes across a bag a passenger seems to have forgotten on the backseat. The bag contains a considerable amount of money and he is desperate to return it. While trying to find the owner of the bag he is eventually taken for a criminal and arrested by police. But in the end everything is straightened out and he lives to see his both children get married. André Hunebelle
André Hunebelle (1 September 1896 – 27 November 1985) was a French maître verrier (master glassmaker) and film director. Master Glass Artist After attending polytechnic school for mathematics, he became a decorator, a designer, and then a master glass maker in the mid-1920s (first recorded exhibition PARIS 1927 included piece "Fruit & Foliage"). His work is known for its clean lines, which are elegant and singularly strong. He exhibited his own glass in a luxurious store located at 2 Avenue Victor-Emmanuel III, at the roundabout of the Champs Èlysées in Paris. Etienne Franckhauser, who also made molds for Lalique and Sabino, made the molds for Hunebelle's glass which was fabricated by the crystal factory in Choisy-le-Roi, France. Hunebelle's store ceased all activity in 1938 prior to World War II. Hunebelle pieces are marked in several ways. Jean Carmet
Jean Carmet (25 April 1920 – 20 April 1994) was a French actor. Life and career Jean Carmet began working on stage and then in film in the early 1940s becoming a very popular comedic actor in his native country. He is best known internationally for his role as a French colonist in the 1976 film, '' La Victoire en Chantant'' (Black and White in Color). Because of his good-natured manner, he was as popular with members of the film crew as he was with the audiences. During his long career, he appeared in more than 200 films, and although he played dramatic parts, he usually acted in a supporting role as a comedic character.
