Monroeville Public Library
Monroeville Public Library is a public library system located in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. It opened on November 3, 1964, as part of Gateway Campus directly opposite the administration building of the Gateway School District and three schools: Gateway High School, Moss Side Middle School, and Dr. Cleveland Stewart Jr. Elementary School. The library has undergone numerous renovations and additions. History In 1960, Franklin Malick organized the Monroeville Citizens Committee for Library Service which pushed an agenda to erect a library in Monroeville. Having raised funds of $109,000 from the community and a federal grant of $21,000, they were able to build the library on a plot of land opposite the, then, new Gateway high School. Monroeville is a home rule municipality in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It is located about 10 miles east of Pittsburgh. Monroeville is a suburb with mixed residential and commercial developments. Gateway High School (GHS) serves the residents of Monroeville and Pitcairn, Pennsylvania. It is part of the Gateway School District and serves grades 9 through 12. History Gateway High School was built in 1958 and dedicated on November 15, 1959. Allegheny County Library Association
The Allegheny County Library Association (ACLA) is an organization based in Western Pennsylvania. Formed in 1991, as an effort to encourage county libraries to collaborate and share resources, ACLA became recognized as a non-profit in 1994. ACLA is based in Pittsburgh's West End neighborhood. ACLA has 46 member libraries. History of ACLA ACLA's story began in 1991 when the County Controller's office issued “A Quiet Crisis: Libraries in Allegheny County.” The report detailed the dismal state of County libraries, each working independently of one another without any centralized coordination or communication structure.
