Monroe Nichols
Monroe Nichols IV (born September 24, 1983) is an American politician and former college football player who has served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from the 72nd district since 2016. He is the first African-American to represent the district. In July 2023, he announced he would not seek re-election to the Oklahoma House in order to run in the 2024 Tulsa mayoral election. Early life Monroe Nichols IV was born September 24, 1983, to Ramona Curtis and Monroe Nichols III. His father and uncle were both police officers. His mother was a parole officer and his grandfather was a pastor and United States Air Force veteran. He later graduated high school from Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic School in Waco, Texas, where he played on his high school's football team as a quarterback. He attended the University of Tulsa where in 2002 he walked-on the football team as receiver. The Oklahoma House of Representatives is the lower house of the legislature of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Darrell Gilbert
Darrell Gilbert is an American politician who served as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives from the 72nd district from 1996 to 2008. Career Darrell Gilbert served as the Tulsa City Councillor for the 3rd district starting in 1993 after he was appointed by the city council to fill the vacancy left by Mike Patrick's death. He was later re-elected to a full term in 1994 after joining the Democratic Party. He served until 1996 when he lost the Democratic primary to David Patrick, Mike Patrick's brother, by 40 votes. 2013 Tulsa Mayoral Election
The 2013 Tulsa mayoral election was held on June 11, 2013 to elect the mayor of Tulsa, Oklahoma. No candidate received a majority vote in the primary elections, and the top two finishers advanced to a runoff election on November 12, 2013. Incumbent mayor Dewey F. Bartlett Jr. was re-elected to a second term after facing former mayor Kathy Taylor. Kathy Taylor (politician)
Kathryn Louise Taylor (born September 29, 1955) was elected the 38th mayor of Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 4, 2006, in the city's largest voter turnout for a mayoral election. She defeated Republican incumbent Mayor Bill Lafortune to become Tulsa's second female mayor, after Susan Savage first filled the post in 1992. Taylor is married to Bill Lobeck, CEO of Vanguard Automotive Group. Taylor served as Oklahoma Secretary of Commerce and Tourism in Governor Brad Henry's administration from 2003 to 2006.
