Monroe Invitational
The Monroe Invitational Championship is an annual amateur golf tournament in the United States, played since 1937 at Monroe Golf Club in Pittsford, New York, a suburb southeast of Rochester. Originally a match play event, it switched to 72-hole stroke play format in 1998. The MIC is a "category B" tournament in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, meaning it is one of the top 100 men's amateur tournaments in the world. The course at Monroe Golf Club opened in 1924 and was designed by Donald Ross. Nick Palladino won the 2013 event in a playoff. Due to rain, the event had been shortened to 54 holes. Pittsford, New York
Pittsford is a town in Monroe County, New York. A suburb of Rochester, its population was 30,617 at the time of the 2020 census. The Town of Pittsford (formerly part of the town of Northfield) was settled in 1789 and incorporated in 1796. The Village of Pittsford was incorporated in 1827. It was named by Colonel Caleb Hopkins, War of 1812 hero and subsequently Pittsford Town Supervisor, for the town of his birth, Pittsford, Vermont. The Erie Canal passes through the town. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 23.4 square miles (60.6 km2), of which 23.2 square miles (60.1 km2) is land and 0.2 square mile (0.5 km2) (0.81%) is water. Taylor Pendrith
Taylor Pendrith (born May 30, 1991) is a Canadian professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He won twice on PGA Tour Canada in 2019. Amateur career Pendrith attended Kent State University from 2010 to 2014. He made the cut in the 2014 Canadian Open and was the low amateur. He was part of the Canadian team that finished second, behind the United States, in the 2014 Eisenhower Trophy. Professional career Pendrith turned professional in late 2014, after the Eisenhower Trophy. In 2015 he played mostly on PGA Tour Canada. Erik Compton
Erik Harald Høie Compton (born November 11, 1979) is a Norwegian-American professional golfer. Compton was born in Miami, Florida, to an American father and a Norwegian mother and holds dual citizenship. He attended the University of Georgia and played on the 2001 Palmer Cup and Walker Cup teams. He has had two heart transplants. Medical condition When he was nine, Compton was diagnosed with viral cardiomyopathy, a condition where the heart muscle is inflamed and unable to pump as hard as it should. Kyle Reifers (born October 13, 1983) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour. Amateur career Reifers was born in Columbus, Ohio and played college golf at Wake Forest University. He won the Monroe Invitational and Ohio Amateur in 2004 and the Northeast Amateur in 2005. Reifers represented the United States at the 2005 Walker Cup where the US won 12–11. He was the runner-up at the 2006 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships. Michael Sim
Michael Sim (born 23 October 1984) is an Australian professional golfer. Amateur career Sim was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and moved to Australia when he was 5 years old. He was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder in 2002. He was the top ranked amateur in the world in 2005 having won four titles during the year including the Sunnehanna Amateur and the Monroe Invitational. He turned professional at the end of the year.
