Monkey3
Monkey3 is a psychedelic stoner rock band from Switzerland. History Native to Lausanne, Monkey3 was created in 2001, initially as a gathering of musicians in jam sessions of stoner rock influence. In 2003 they became a permanent group featuring Kevin on bass, Walter on drums, Boris on guitar, dB on keyboards. With their debut album "Monkey3", released in 2004 by Belgian label Buzzville Records, the band got great reactions and reviews all over Europe, putting them on the map of the stoner-rock scene. Over their career, MONKEY3 have released 6 albums. The band's 6th full-length record, "Sphere", was released on April 12, 2019. Over the years, the Swiss quartet has toured in Europe, supporting bigger acts and playing festivals such as Roadburn, Hellfest, Freak Valley, Desertfest Berlin and Desertfest Antwerp. Napalm Records
Napalm Records is an Austrian independent record label focused on heavy metal and hard rock. Originally, Napalm focused on black metal bands, such as Abigor and Summoning, and folk metal bands, such as Falkenbach and Vintersorg. The label later expanded its roster by adding gothic metal, symphonic metal, power metal, doom metal, metalcore and nu metal bands, as well as stoner rock acts Monster Magnet, Karma to Burn, and Brant Bjork, and even folk bands like Ye Banished Privateers. Stoner Rock
Stoner rock, also known as stoner metal or stoner doom, is a rock music fusion genre that combines elements of doom metal with psychedelic rock and acid rock. The genre emerged during the early 1990s and was pioneered foremost by Kyuss and Sleep. Characteristics Stoner rock is typically slow-to-mid tempo and features a heavily distorted, groove-laden bass-heavy sound, melodic vocals, and "retro" production. Due to the similarities between stoner and sludge metal, there is often a crossover between the two genres. This hybrid has traits of both styles, but generally lacks stoner metal's laid back atmosphere and its usage of psychedelia. Hellfest (French Music Festival)
Hellfest (), also called Hellfest Summer Open Air, is a rock festival focusing on heavy metal music, held annually in June in Clisson, France. Its high attendance makes it the French music festival with the largest turnover. It is also one of the biggest metal festivals in Europe and the first to exist in France. It originated in another music festival, the Fury Fest, held from 2002 to 2005, in different areas of Pays de la Loire.
