Monique Javer
Monique Alicia Javer (born 22 July 1967) is an American-born former professional tennis player who represented Great Britain and was at one time the British number 1. She turned professional in 1985 and played her final professional match in 2000. During the course of her career she won one WTA singles title (the 1988 Singapore Open), reached four WTA semifinals and reached a career-high singles ranking of world No.56 (achieved 21 September 1992). She also represented Great Britain at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Javer managed to reach the second round of all four Grand Slams during her fifteen-year career. She reached the second round of the French Open in 1990, the US Open in 1990 and Wimbledon in 1993. She also progressed to round two of the Australian Open on three occasions in the years 1988, 1991 and 1993, to give her a total of six wins in the main draws of the Grand Slam events. Hillsborough is an incorporated town in San Mateo County, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Sarah Loosemore
Sarah Loosemore (born 15 June 1971) is a retired professional tennis player from Wales. She is now a qualified solicitor. Born in Cardiff but brought up in Dinas Powys by solicitor father John (Grandy) and tennis coach mother Pam (Nanny), Loosemore played on the WTA from the late 1980s until 1992. She was the youngest female British competitor at Wimbledon at age 17 in 1988. And before that played in junior Wimbledon for a number of years prior. The WTA Auckland Open (currently sponsored by ASB Bank and called the ASB Classic) is a professional women's tennis tournament in Auckland, New Zealand. The tournament is played annually, in the first week of January, at the ASB Tennis Centre in the suburb of Parnell, just east of the Central Business District. It is an International level tournament in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) World Tour. The equivalent men's event, the ATP Auckland Open, is played in the following week, immediately ahead of the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open. The 1988 WTA Tour was the elite tour for professional women's tennis of the Women's International Tennis Association (WITA) for the 1988 season. The 1988 WTA Tour included the four Grand Slam tournaments, the WITA Tour Championships and the WTA Category 1-5 events. ITF tournaments were not part of the WTA Tour, although they award points for the WTA World Ranking. The Grand Slam in tennis is the achievement of winning all four major championships in one discipline in a calendar year, also referred to as the "Calendar-year Grand Slam" or "Calendar Slam".
