Monika Van Paemel
Monika, Baroness van Paemel (born 4 May 1945) is a Belgian writer. Born in Poesele, at age 14 she attended the ''Heilig Graf'' boarding school in Turnhout, where she graduated in ''commercial sciences''. In 1963, she married Theo Butsen, whom she divorced some years later. Together they had two daughters, but one of them died aged seventeen. On 16 July 1993, she was knighted and became a baroness. Nevele
Nevele () is a village and former Municipalities of Belgium, municipality located in the Belgium, Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Hansbeke, Landegem, Merendree, Nevele proper, Poesele and Vosselare. In 2018, the municipality of Nevele had a total population of 12,179. The total area is 51.89 km². Effective 1 January 2019, the municipality was merged into Deinze. Subdivisions Nevele consisted of six ''deelgemeenten'' (sub-municipalities). Dirk Martens
Dirk Martens ( la, Theodoricus Martinus) (1446 or 1447 – 28 May 1534) was a printer and editor in the County of Flanders. He published over fifty books by Erasmus and the very first edition of Thomas More's ''Utopia''. He was the first to print Greek and Hebrew characters in the Netherlands. In 1856 a statue of Martens was erected on the main square of the town of his birth, Aalst. Biography Dirk Martens was born in Aalst to Joos Martens and Johanna de Proost. He had two sisters, Johanna and Margaretha. His family had long lived in Aalst. He was also related to the family of Pieter Coecke van Aalst, artist and member of one of the most prominent families of Aalst. While the date of birth of Martens is not known, it is presumed to be in 1446 or 1447. Most information on Martens was lost in 1582, when the Aalst monastery of the Hermits of Saint William, which had received the library of Martens after his death, burned down. Flemish Literature
Flemish literature is literature from Flanders, historically a region comprising parts of present-day Belgium, France and the Netherlands. Until the early 19th century, this literature was regarded as an integral part of Dutch literature.
