Louis De Monge
Louis de Monge (Vicomte Pierre Louis de Monge de Franeau) (1890–New York, 25 July 1977) was a notable Belgian engineer. He is mainly remembered as the designer of the Bugatti Model 100 racing aircraft. Career He was interested in aircraft from his childhood and by 1907 had begun to explore ways of automatically stabilizing aircraft. These studies culminated in 1914 with the construction of such a machine, which flew successfully in turbulent conditions on 15 June 1914. In 1915 he produced another autostabilized aircraft, a biplane with a propeller in the centre of its fuselage. During World War I he was granted patents for methods of in-flight disposal of burning fuel, of metal propellers and for bomb releases. Towards the end of the war he flew with the Belgian Air Force and completed a series of calculations over propeller efficiency. Priscilla Monge (born 1968) is a Costa Rican artist. She is one of the best-known female artists from Central America. Early life and education She was born in San José and studied art at the University of Costa Rica. In 1994, she settled in Belgium, staying there four years; there, she met the artist Wim Delvoye who had a strong influence on her development as an artist. Now, she lives and works in San José. Peter Monge is professor of communication in the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism and professor of management and organization in the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. Nestor Monge (born 7 January 1990) is a Costa Rican professional footballer who plays for BGL Ligue side Differdange. Luis Alberto Monge Álvarez (December 29, 1925 – November 29, 2016) was the President of Costa Rica from 1982 to 1986. He also served as Costa Rica's first Ambassador to Israel from 1963 until 1966. Biography Early and personal life Monge was born on December 29, 1925, in Palmares, Alajuela Province, to Gerardo Monge Quesada and Elisa Álvarez Vargas. He married his first wife, Flora Rojas Alvarez, on March 9, 1946, but the marriage was dissolved in January 1960. He met his second wife, Doris Yankelewitz Berger, while both were attending a luncheon at the University of Costa Rica.
