San Francesco, Mondavio
San Francesco is a Gothic architecture, Gothic-style, Roman Catholic church and convent located near the center of Mondavio, region of Marche, Italy. The convent is now part of an elementary school at Piazza Matteotti. History While the exterior is simple unfinished brick; the interior was refurbished in Baroque fashion. The flanks of the church have buttresses. The bell-tower arises from the convent. The church dates from 1292, putatively at a site where St Francis of Assisi preached. The convent was suppressed in the 19th century and was used for various purposes. The interior has houses the relics of the Martyr Lucius, and has a medieval wooden crucifix and paintings, including an ''Immaculate Conception'', (1535) by Giuliano Presutti. site. Rocca Di Mondavio
The Rocca di Mondavio or Rocca Roveresca di Mondavio is a 15th-century castle in the town of Mondavio, in the region of Marche, Italy. The castle is now two museums. History The castle was commissioned by Giovanni Della Rovere around 1492 from the architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini. The castle, in excellent state of conservation since it was never sieged or bombed, houses a museum about personal and siege weapons, armor, uniforms, and battle strategies used in the age when such bulwarks were most useful. A trebuchet, built to designs of Martini, is on display in the moat. A torture reenactment is on display in the dungeon. Every August 14–15, the castle sponsors a historic re-enactment of a period banquet, theater, and competitions. Santi Pietro E Paterniano, Mondavio
Santi Pietro e Paterniano is a Baroque-style, Roman Catholic collegiate church located in the town of Mondavio, region of Marche, Italy. History The church was founded in 1444 with the unification of two parishes. It was refurbished in 1563 by designs of Bartolomeo Genga. The church was again redecorated and enlarged in 1741 when it was made a collegiate church. The interior hosts stucco decorations by Brandani including a ''Nativity''. The adjacent tower of the Porta di San Pietro was incorporated as apse. The lateral chapels were added. In the Chapel of the Holy Sacrament is a canvas depicting a ''Guardian Angel'' by Giuseppe Bottani. There is also a small canvas of the ''Christ of the Passion'' surrounded by Angels with the instruments of the Passion. In the apse is a ''Glory of the Virgin with St John Evangelist, and St Catherine'' attributed to followers of Federico Barocci. The Museo Civico di Mondavio is a public museum and art gallery (pinacoteca) located on Piazza Matteotti 3, where it is housed in the medieval former Franciscan monastery in the town center of Mondavio, in the Province of Pesaro e Urbino in the Italian region Marche. Pesaro () is a city and ''comune'' in the Italian region of Marche, capital of the Province of Pesaro e Urbino, on the Adriatic Sea. According to the 2011 census, its population was 95,011, making it the second most populous city in the Marche, after Ancona. Pesaro was dubbed the "Cycling City" (''Città della Bicicletta'') by the Italian environmentalist association Legambiente in recognition of its extensive network of bicycle paths and promotion of cycling.
