Patrick Monahan (born February 28, 1969) is an American musician, singer and songwriter. He is best known as the lead singer and sole constant member of the band Train. He has collaborated with multiple artists and recorded a solo album, '' Last of Seven''. Early life Monahan was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of Jack Monahan, a clothing store owner and musician, and Patricia Ann (née Timon) Monahan. He is the youngest of seven children in a family of Irish descent and became an uncle at five. He attended McDowell High School in Millcreek Township. The Goidelic or Gaelic languages ( ga, teangacha Gaelacha; gd, cànanan Goidhealach; gv, çhengaghyn Gaelgagh) form one of the two groups of Insular Celtic languages, the other being the Brittonic languages. Goidelic languages historically formed a dialect continuum stretching from Ireland through the Isle of Man to Scotland. There are three modern Goidelic languages: Irish ('), Scottish Gaelic ('), and Manx ('). Manx died out as a first language in the 20th century but has since been revived to some degree. Daniel Leo Monahan (December 13, 1926March 27, 2013) was an American sports journalist. He became a full-time journalist in 1950, and had a career which lasted 30 years combined with the ''Daily Record'', the ''Record American'', and the ''Herald American'' which then merged into the ''Boston Herald''. He later contributed to ''Sports Illustrated'' and the ''Sporting News'', and served as the director of information at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He traveled with and reported on the Boston Bruins, and was recognized with the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award from the Hockey Hall of Fame for his journalism. Joseph William "Jay" Monahan IV (born May 7, 1970) is the fourth and current commissioner of golf's PGA Tour. He ascended to this position in January 2017. Early years Monahan was born and raised in Belmont, Massachusetts, a suburb northwest of Boston. Following graduation from Belmont High School, he did a post graduate year at Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. "A Rape on Campus" is a retracted, defamatory ''Rolling Stone'' magazine article written by Sabrina Erdely and originally published on November 19, 2014, that describes a purported group sexual assault at the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville, Virginia. ''Rolling Stone'' retracted the story in its entirety on April 5, 2015. The article claimed that a UVA student Jackie Coakley had been taken to a party hosted by UVA's Phi Kappa Psi fraternity by a fellow student. At the party, Jackie alleged in the article, her date led her to a bedroom where she was gang raped by several fraternity members as part of a fraternity initiation ritual.
