Monaco (album)
''Monaco'' is the second studio album by rock band Monaco, a side project of New Order bassist Peter Hook. It was released in 2000 and reached No. 84 in the UK. The album was provided 2 singles. The first single is "I've Got A Feeling", but later was rejected in the UK, due to sample clearances. The second single is "See-Saw”, as a limited 12" single. When the album was recorded, their previous label Polydor Records rejected this album to be released, due to changing trends in music at the time. In a money saving move, the label opted to focus on more commercially successful artists. Papillon Records agreed to release the album, though the planned single release of "I've Got A Feeling" was recalled in the UK due to sample clearance issues. "See-Saw" was later released as a limited run 12" single. Despite favorable reviews, the album was released with little to no promotion, and has become a collectible item. Monaco (band)
Monaco are an English rock band, originally formed in 1995 as a side project of New Order bassist Peter Hook, together with David Potts, the only remaining member of Hook's previous New Order side project, Revenge. The group is best known for the 1997 single " What Do You Want from Me?" and the album from which it was taken, '' Music for Pleasure'', which sold over half a million copies. Hook and Potts currently perform together in Peter Hook and The Light. In July 2019, Hook announced that the band were to return, performing a new Monaco track "Higher, Higher, Higher Love" during Peter Hook and The Light's ‘Joy Division Orchestrated’ show at London's Royal Albert Hall. Debut album Potts initially met Hook while working as a tape operator in his studio. He was later recruited to play guitar on Revenge's EP, ''Gun World Porn'' in 1992. Peter Hook
Peter Hook (born Woodhead; 13 February 1956) is an English musician, best known as the bassist and co-founder of the rock bands Joy Division and New Order. Hook often used the bass as a lead instrument, playing melodies on the high strings with a signature heavy chorus effect. In New Order, he would do this, leaving the actual basslines to keyboards or sequencers. Hook formed the band which was to become Joy Division with Bernard Sumner in 1976. Following the death of lead singer Ian Curtis in 1980, the band reformed as New Order, and Hook played bass with them until 2007. Hook has recorded one album with Revenge (''One True Passion''), two albums with Monaco ('' Music for Pleasure'' and ''Monaco'') and one album with Freebass ('' It's a Beautiful Life''), serving as bassist, keyboardist and lead vocalist. New Order are an English rock band formed in 1980 by vocalist and guitarist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris. The members regrouped after the demise of their previous band Joy Division due to the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis. They were joined by Gillian Gilbert on keyboards later that year. New Order's integration of post-punk with electronic and dance music made them one of the most acclaimed and influential bands of the 1980s.
