Mommy (album)
''Mommy'' is the third full-length studio album by American punk/garage rock band Be Your Own Pet, released August 25, 2023 via Third Man Records. ''Mommy'' marks the group's first recorded material in almost fifteen years following the release of their second studio album, ''Get Awkward'' and subsequent break-up in 2008. The album was preceded by four singles, "Hand Grenade", "Worship the Whip", "Goodtime!" and "Big Trouble" released March 30, May 31, June 28, and July 26, 2023 respectively. Background Following a fourteen-year hiatus, Be Your Own Pet reunited in 2021 after lead singer, Jemina Pearl and guitarist, Jonas Stein were convinced by Pearl's husband and Third Man Records co-owner, Ben Swank to reconnect on a personal level with each other after many years without communication since the band's tumultuous split in 2008. Be Your Own Pet
Be Your Own Pet (also known as BYOP) is a four-piece punk/garage rock group from Nashville, Tennessee. Biography The band formed in 2004, while all members were in high school at Nashville School of the Arts. Playing house shows and gigs at the all-ages venues Guido's Pizza and Bongo Java, the group honed its spastic-yet-poppy sound. The band released their first single, "Damn Damn Leash" – as a CD-R; the track made its way to BBC Radio One presenter Zane Lowe, whose support for Be Your Own Pet won the band an early U.K. following. Meanwhile, attention-getting gigs at 2004's CMJ and 2005's South by Southwest began creating a buzz for the group stateside. A string of EPs followed. ''DIY'' is a United Kingdom-based music publication, in print and online. Its free print edition is released monthly with a physical circulation of 40,000 in UK venues, clubs and shops. Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). Jemina Pearl Abegg (born June 20, 1987) is an American singer and the frontwoman of Be Your Own Pet, a punk rock band she started when she was 16. She appeared in the television series ''Gossip Girl'', in a musical performance with Thurston Moore, covering the Ramones classic "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker". Her debut solo album, '' Break It Up'', was released on October 6, 2009.
