Momma (band)
Momma is an American indie rock band from Los Angeles, California. History Momma consists of Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten, who have been friends with each other since meeting at Viewpoint School, as well as drummer Zach Capitti Fenton. Momma released their first album in 2018 through Danger Collective Records, titled ''Interloper''. On February 24, 2020, Momma announced their second album, ''Two Of Me'', alongside a new song, "Double Dare". On April 6, 2020, Momma shared another song from the album, "Biohazard". The album was recorded during summer break while the members were attending college. The album was described as a concept album. The band went on to release their third album, ''Household Name'', on July 1, 2022 via Polyvinyl and Lucky Number to critical acclaim. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Independent labels such as Flying Nun Records, Flying Nun began to promote the scene across New Zealand, inspiring key college rock bands in the United States such as Pavement (band), Pavement, Pixies (band), Pixies and R.E.M. Viewpoint School
Viewpoint School is an independent school located in Calabasas, California. The school is coeducational, with students enrolled from Transitional Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade. Enrollment in the 2014–15 school year was 1,200, making it the fourth largest institution in the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS). History In Viewpoint School's first year, 1961, it occupied leased facilities in Encino, California and enrolled 24 students. Mrs. Thelma Sitton was the school's first principal. The school's enrollment and recognition grew. Portions of the campus moved west and for several years shared space with a church on Platt Avenue in Woodland Hills. ''Household Name'' is the third studio album by American indie rock band Momma. It was released on July 1, 2022, by Polyvinyl and Lucky Number. The album was produced by Momma multi-instrumentalist Aron Kobayashi Ritch. Singles and promotion "Medicine", the album's first single, was released on November 17, 2021. The album's second single, "Rockstar", was released on February 22, 2022. The band announced the album alongside the release of the third single, "Speeding 72", on April 19, 2022.
