Abdul Ahad Momand
Abdul Ahad Momand (; born 1959) is a Afghan-German and former Afghan Air Force aviator who became the first, and currently only, Afghan citizen to journey to outer space. He became one of Soyuz TM-6 crew members and spent nine days aboard the Mir space station in 1988 as an Intercosmos Research Cosmonaut. He holds many records as an Afghan Astronaut. During this mission, Abdul Ahad Momand was the first cosmonaut to speak the Pashto language after he made a telephone call to Afghanistan, making it the fifth language to be officially spoken in space. He became the first Afghan citizen and the fourth Muslim to visit outer space, after Sultan bin Salman Al Saud, Muhammed Faris, and Musa Manarov. Farida Momand
Farida Momand (born 14 January 1965) is an Afghans, Afghan doctor and politician who serves as Ministry of Higher Education (Afghanistan), Minister of Higher Education. Early life and education Momand was born in 1965 in the Momand Dara District of Nangarhar Province. She is of Pashtuns, Pashtun descent. She studied at Rabia Balkhi High School and received a BA in Medicine from Kabul University. Career Momand is a medical doctor and has worked in several government hospitals. She was a professor at Kabul Medical University. Her husband was a spokesman for the Northern Alliance which sought to keep the Taliban from power. Mohammad Gul Khan Momand ( ps, محمد ګل خان مومند) (born January 17, 1885 – died August 18, 1964), also spelled as Mohmand, was both a literary figure and a well-known politician in Afghanistan. He was also known as Wazir Mohammad Gul Khan Momand or Momand Baba. Mohammad Gul Khan was an Army Officer during Afghanistan's Independence war in 1919. He served numerous Government and Leadership positions including Home Minister of Afghanistan. Early life and education Wazir Mohammad Gul Khan Momand was born in Andrabayo, Kabul Province. His father was Khurshid Khan, while his grandfather was Momen Khan who served in the Afghan Army during the rule of King Abdur Rahman Khan.
