Ray Grey
Raymod "Ray" Standish Grey (February 19, 1890, San Diego, California - April 18, 1925, Glendale, California) was an American film director, film actor, screenwriter and the father of actress Virginia Grey. Grey got his start as an actor in Mack Sennett's Keystone Studios films. His acting debut was in '' A Movie Star'' (1916). In the early 1920s, he switched off between being the main director of features and being a second unit or assistant director; such as with the film '' Molly O''' (1921), Flickering Youth (1924), and Salome and Shenandoah. Primary directed such films as ''Among Those Present'' (1919), '' Andy Takes a Flyer'' (1925), and '' Between Meals'' (1926). The last film was released after Grey's early death at age 35 from pneumonia. Grey is buried at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California. Carl Stockdale
Carl Stockdale also known as Carlton Stockdale (February 19, 1874 – March 15, 1953) was one of the longest-working Hollywood veteran actors, with a career dating from the early 1910s. He also made the difficult transition from silent films to talkies. Stockdale was born in Worthington, Minnesota, graduated from Minneapolis Central High School, and attended the University of North Dakota. Before he began working with films, Stockdale was a property man with a repertory theatrical company headed by his brother. He went on to act on stage in repertory theater and in vaudeville. Stockdale was in Hollywood as early as 1913 with a small role in Gilbert M. Anderson's ''Broncho Billy's Last Deed''. He worked with that film franchise for two years before joining D. W. Griffith's film company. He remained busy into the 1940s. His last film was released in 1943. Bernard "Ben" Turpin (September 19, 1869 – July 1, 1940) was an American comedian and actor, best remembered for his work in silent films. His trademarks were his cross-eyed appearance and adeptness at vigorous physical comedy. Turpin worked with notable performers such as Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy, and was a part of the Mack Sennett studio team. He is believed to have been the first filmed "victim" of the pie in the face gag. When sound came to films, Turpin chose to retire, having invested profitably in real estate, although he did do occasional cameos. Personal life Turpin was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on September 19, 1869,His birth date was given as September 19, 1869, but other years were used at various times in his Hollywood publicity material. He is widely recognised for his eccentric clothing and wild hair and his production of several cutting edge drum and bass tracks. Kathryn McGuire (December 6, 1903 – October 10, 1978) was an American dancer and actress. Early life Born in Peoria, Illinois, McGuire was said to be recognized by critics and fans alike as one of the rising stars in film. Selected one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars in 1922, she was the first person in her family to enter the acting profession. At an early age, McGuire's family moved to Aurora, Illinois, and then to Chicago. McGuire received her education from the Jennings Seminary in Aurora, and remained there even after her parents left that city. By the time she graduated at about the age of fourteen, her parents were ready to move to California. McGuire was highly interested in dancing, and took classes under the leading ballet masters when she arrived in California.
