Molly Drake (album)
''Molly Drake'' is a compilation album of songs performed by the English poet and musician, Molly Drake. The recordings were made during the 1950s at the family home in Tanworth-in-Arden by her husband, Rodney Drake. A collection of these recordings and poems was released by Bryter Music as a limited privately pressed edition of 500 copies in 2011. It came as a single CD with a booklet of poetry housed in a black card portfolio. The album was later released by Squirrel Thing Records in March 2013. The recordings were originally made by her husband Rodney Drake on a home Ferrograph recorder, the released versions of which were engineered by John Wood and produced by Cally Callomon. John Wood was the sound engineer for her son Nick Drake's albums. The Squirrel Thing release of these recordings were officially licensed from Nick Drake's Estate: Bryter Music. Molly Drake
Mary Drake (born Mary Lloyd); 5 November 1915 – 4 June 1993), also known as Molly Drake, was an English poet and musician, best known as the mother of the actress Gabrielle Drake and the musician Nick Drake. Molly Drake never released any official publications of her poetry or compositions in her lifetime, but she had a profound impact on the musical style of her son. As Nick Drake's music gained a larger following after his death, Molly Drake's recordings have been released, which uncover the musical similarities between her and her son. Biography Drake was born to her father Sir Idwal Geoffrey Lloyd (13 January 1878, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire – 6 March 1946, Surrey) and mother Georgie Lloyd in Yangon, Rangoon, Burma. Tanworth-in-Arden
Tanworth-in-Arden (; often abbreviated to Tanworth) is a small village and civil parish in the county of Warwickshire, England. It is southeast of Birmingham and northeast of Redditch, and is administered by Stratford-on-Avon District Council. The civil parish includes Tanworth-in-Arden itself plus the nearby settlements of Earlswood, Wood End, Forshaw Heath, Aspley Heath and Danzey Green. John Wood is an English sound engineer and producer, best known for his work with Fairport Convention, John Martyn, Cat Stevens, Sandy Denny, Nick Drake, the Incredible String Band, Pink Floyd, Nico and Squeeze. Nick Drake
Nicholas Rodney Drake (19 June 1948 – 25 November 1974) was an English singer-songwriter known for his acoustic guitar-based songs.
