1995 Davis Cup
The 1995 Davis Cup (also known as the 1995 Davis Cup by NEC for sponsorship purposes) was the 84th edition of the Davis Cup, the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. 115 teams entered the competition, 16 in the World Group, 25 in the Americas Zone, 29 in the Asia/Oceania Zone, and 45 in the Europe/Africa Zone. Bermuda, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Moldova and Pacific Oceania made their first appearances in the tournament. 2018 Davis Cup
The 2018 Davis Cup was the 107th edition of the Davis Cup, a tournament between national teams in men's tennis. It was sponsored by BNP Paribas. In 2018, new rules were introduced for the Group I and II zonal events, with ties now being played as best-of-three sets over the course of two days. Croatia won their second Davis Cup on indoor clay in the final match held at 25 November with a 3–1 win over France. The Moldova Billie Jean King Cup team represents Moldova in the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Moldova Republic Tennis Federation. They have not competed since 2017. Ilie Cazac (tennis)
Ilie Cazac (born 1985, Tighina) is a former Moldovan tax inspector and political prisoner. He was arrested by representatives of the unrecognized Transnistria (the breakaway region of Moldova) in March 2010, being accused of high treason and espionage on behalf of Moldova. In February 2011, a court in Transnistria sentenced him to 14 years in prison. Among the institutions involved in his release in October 2011 were the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navanethem Pillay, World Organization Against Torture, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and the European Court of Human Rights. Alexander Cozbinov (born 28 April 1995) is a Moldovan tennis player. Cozbinov has a career high ATP singles ranking of 420 achieved on 21 August 2023. He also has a career high ATP doubles ranking of 237 achieved on 8 August 2022. Cozbinov represents Moldova at the Davis Cup, where he has a W/L record of 15–5.
