Molas Pass
Molas Pass, elevation , is a high mountain pass in the San Juan Mountains of western Colorado in the United States. The pass is in the San Juan National Forest. It is traversed by the Million Dollar Highway, U.S. Highway 550 south of Silverton, which is part of the San Juan Skyway Scenic Byway The San Juan Skyway Scenic and Historic Byway is a All-American Road, National Forest Scenic Byway, and Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway located in Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma, San Juan, and San Miguel counties, Colorado, .... Though it is one of the higher passes in Colorado, it has only a few switchbacks on the north approach, is considerably less intimidating than Red Mountain Pass on the same highway. It is generally kept open in the winter months. Molas Pass is also the last mountain pass of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic race, where riders race the train from Durango to Silverton. Isidre Molas
Isidre Molas i Batllori (born 12 October 1940, in Barcelona) is a Catalan politician and historian, who has served as the fifth President of the Socialists' Party of Catalonia since 19 July 2008. He has been a Senator from Barcelona since 5 April 2000. Early years Molas was born in Barcelona in 1940. His father was a musician, Isidre Molas i Font, and he is the brother of the historian and writer, Joaquim Molas i Batllori. In 1963, Molas graduated in law in the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He was an active member of the ''Front Obrer de Catalunya'' (Workers' Front of Catalonia) and joined the left-wing anti-Franco movement '' Frente de Liberación Popular'' (Popular Liberation Front). In 1962 he was judged and condemnated by a military court. Felipe Benigno Molas López (10 July 1901 – 17 November 1954) was 39th President of Paraguay from February 27, 1949 – September 10, 1949, when he resigned. A sunfish (or mola) is any fish in the ''Mola'' genus (family (biology), family Molidae). The fish develop their truncated, bullet-like shape because the back fin, with which they are born, never grows. Instead, it folds into itself as the creature matures, creating a rounded rudder called a clavus. ''Mola'' in Latin means "millstone" and describes the ocean sunfish's somewhat circular shape. __NOTOC__ The term "molasse" () refers to sandstones, shales and conglomerates that form as terrestrial or shallow marine deposits in front of rising mountain chains. The molasse deposits accumulate in a foreland basin, especially on top of flysch-like deposits, for example, those that left from the rising Alps, or erosion in the Himalaya. These deposits are typically the non-marine alluvial and fluvial sediments of lowlands, as compared to deep-water flysch sediments.
