Mol (Belgium)
Mol () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the town of Mol. In 2021, Mol had a total population of 37,021 inhabitants. The total area is 114.19 km2. Mol is a popular holiday resort, with many lakes surrounded by woods. There are two main tourist lakes: *Zilvermeer, which opened as a Provincial Park in 1959 and offers a white sand beach as well as facilities such as an outdoor playground and an underwater museum for divers. *Zilverstrand: Originally, it had only an outdoor lake with a white sand beach. Later, a caravan park was built and mid-1990s an indoor swimming pool was created. Furthermore, there is a Sun Parks holiday centre called "Kempense Meren" with an indoor swimming pool. Ezaart
Ezaart is one of the 12 townships in the municipality Mol in Belgium. It had 3332 inhabitants (31 December 2013). The township also includes "Hessie" which was formerly part of Millegem and therefore Geel. Toponymy The name Ezaart derives from Esaert as it was written a long time ago. The word Esaert contains two words: ''es'' and ''aert''. Es is an old Dutch word for shrub and aert for a lowland. There is also another explanation. It is said there once was a farmer travelling between Mol and Geel. He had a stubborn donkey which would not move anymore. The farmer got some help from local people and they pushed and pulled the donkey to get him to move. However, they pulled so strong on the animal's tail, it broke off. This incident should have taken place in front of the little chapel "Mary in need". In this opinion, Ezaart derives from the Dutch words "ezel" ''(= Donkey)'' and "staart" ''(= tail)''. Filip Dewulf (born 15 March 1972) is a former professional male tennis player from Belgium. In his career, he won two ATP Tour singles titles and one title in doubles. In 1997 he reached the semifinals of the French Open, his best singles result ever and the first Belgian tennis player (male or female) to reach the semi-final at a Grand Slam tournament. He defeated Cristiano Caratti, Fernando Meligeni, Albert Portas, Àlex Corretja and Magnus Norman before he was defeated in four sets by the eventual champion, Gustavo Kuerten. Jacob Buyens Van Mol
Jacob Buyens van Mol (died 12 June 1604) was a Flemish Dominican friar, priest and writer. Biography Jacob ( French: Jacques) Buyens was born in Mol, in the Campine region of north-eastern Belgium. He entered the Dominicans in Antwerp and became a Roman Catholic priest. He was a lecturer in theology and prefect of the Brotherhood of the Rosary. He also distinguished himself as a preacher in his monastery. Buyens published ''Gheestelyke oeffeninghe om eenigheydt met Godt te cryghen'' and ''Den costelycken schadt der Broederschap van H. Charles De Broqueville
Charles Marie Pierre Albert, 1st Count de Broqueville (4 December 1860 – 5 September 1940) was the prime minister of Belgium, serving during World War I. Before 1914 Charles de Broqueville was born into an old noble family with its roots in French Gascony. He was the son of count Stanislas de Broqueville (1830-1919) and Claire de Briey (1832-1876). He received private education from Catholic priest Charles Simon, from which he also learned Dutch.
