Mokranjac Music School
The Mokranjac Music School (), formerly Serbian School of Music (Српска музичка школа), is a music school in Belgrade founded by Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac on 21 September 1896, under the auspices of the First Belgrade Choral Society (Прво београдско певачко друштво). On 28 March 1946, the school was named after its founder and first director Stevan Mokranjac who is considered to be one of the most important Serbian composers in history. Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac
Stevan Stojanović ( sr-Cyrl, Стеван Стојановић, ; 9 January 1856 – 28 September 1914), known as Stevan Mokranjac ( sr-Cyrl, Стеван Мокрањац, ) was a Serbian composer and music educator. Born in Negotin in 1856, Mokranjac studied music in Belgrade, Munich, Rome and Leipzig while in his twenties. Later, he became the conductor of the Belgrade Choir Society and founder of the Serbian School of Music and the first Serbian string quartet, in which he played the cello. He left Belgrade at the beginning of World War I and moved to Skopje, where he died on 28 September 1914. Often called the "father of Serbian music" and the "most important figure of Serbian musical romanticism", Mokranjac is well-regarded and much revered in Serbia. Following his death, the Serbian Music School was renamed the Mokranjac Music School in his honour. Emina Jahović
Emilija "Emina" Jahović (, ; born 15 January 1982), also known mononymously as Emina, is a Serbian- Turkish singer-songwriter, actress and businesswoman of Bosniak origin. Born and raised in Novi Pazar, she rose to prominence through music festivals. Jahović released her debut album in 2002, but acquired commercial success with her third record '' Vila'' in 2008. Lejla Hot
Lejla Hot ( sr, Лејла Хот; born 9 April 1986) is a Serbian pop singer, musician, and songwriter. She was born in Belgrade, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia and finished Musical High School "Mokranjac" in Belgrade in section solo singing and piano and then graduated at the Belgrade Music Academy (section piano). At the age of 16 she participated in a Music Show called 3K-Dur with a notable role in the final. She also entered the first ever Serbian Pop Idol competition, ''Idol Show''. Jelena Dokić
Jelena Dokic ( sr, Јелена Докић, Jelena Dokić; ; born 12 April 1983) is an Australian tennis coach, commentator, writer, and former professional tennis player. Her highest ranking as a tennis player was world No. 4, in August 2002. She won WTA Tour events on all surfaces during her career. In the 1999 Wimbledon Championships the 16-year-old Dokic achieved one of the biggest upsets in tennis history, beating Martina Hingis 6–2, 6–0. Katarina Pejak
Katarina Pejak is a Serbian blues singer, songwriter, and pianist. She blends a basic blues styling with elements of soul, folk and jazz. Pejak has been involved in the recording of five albums since 2010. Life and career She was born in Belgrade, Serbia. Her father was a promoter and manager of a blues and jazz club, while her mother was a flamenco dancer.
