Moisés Julio Blanchoud
Moisés Julio Blanchoud (September 4, 1923 – February 28, 2016) was an Argentine Prelate of the Catholic Church. Blanchoud was born in Esperanza, Argentina and was ordained a priest on December 14, 1947. Blanchoud was appointed auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Río Cuarto as well as titular bishop Belali on February 13, 1960, and ordained April 24, 1960. Blanchoud was installed as bishop of the Diocese of Río Cuarto on March 7, 1963. Blanchoud was appointed to the Archdiocese of Salta on January 7, 1984, and retired from the diocese August 6, 1999. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Salta (erected 28 March 1806, as the Diocese of Salta) is in Argentina and is a metropolitan diocese, responsible for the suffragan Dioceses of Catamarca, Jujuy and Orán as well as the Territorial Prelatures of Cafayate and Humahuaca. History It was created on 17 February 1807, the territory being taken from the ancient Diocese of Córdoba del Tucumán. The Latin Rite Catholic Archdiocese of Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz ( la, Archidioecesis Sanctae Fidei Verae Crucis in Argentina and is a metropolitan diocese. Its suffragan sees include Rafaela and Reconquista. History On 15 February 1897 Pope Leo XII founded the Diocese of Santa Fe from territory taken from the Diocese of Paraná. On 20 April 1934 the diocese was elevated to an archdiocese by Pope Pius XI. On the same date it lost territory to create the dioceses of Diocese of Mendoza. It lost further territory when the dioceses of Resistencia (1939), Reconquista (1957) and Rafaela (1961) were created.
