Moisés Canelo
Moisés Canelo, is the pseudonym of Moisés Canelas Withol (born July 9, 1950), a Honduran singer and songwriter of international recognition. Biography Moisés Canelas Withol, was born on July 9, 1950 in the village of Francia, of the municipality of Limón, department of Colón in the republic of Honduras. Because he was small, Moisés distinguished himself when he was young by singing in the banana fields of Coyoles Central. While in primary school at the Escuela Francisco Morazán in La Ceiba, he built on this foundation acting and singing on stage. Musical career Moisés demonstrated artistic aptitude as a singer from age eight. As a teenager looking for ways to earn money singing, he joined the ''Banda Los Robbin´s'' of La Ceiba along with his childhood friend Ricardo Pereira. Tela
Tela is a town, with a population of 38,030 (2020 calculation), and a municipality in Honduras on the northern Caribbean coast. It is located in the department of Atlantida. History Colonial era Tela was founded by the Spanish conquistador Cristóbal de Olid on near an indigenous town named Tehuacán, ruled by a cacique named Cucumba which had a very good source of clean water, food and medicinal plants. Olid named his town Triunfo de la Cruz (Triumph of the Cross) as it was founded on this Catholic holy day. The name Triunfo de la Cruz continues to be used to day to refer to a small promontory in the bay. OTI Festival 1980
The OTI Festival 1980 was the ninth edition of the annual OTI Festival. It was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, following the country's victory at the 1979 contest with the song "Cuenta conmigo" by Daniel Ríolobos. Organised by the Organización de Televisión Iberoamericana (OTI) and host broadcasters Canal 7 and Canal 13, the contest was held at the 1049-seat Martín Coronado room of the Teatro General San Martín on Saturday 15 November 1980 and was hosted by Antonio Carrizo and Liliana López Foresi. In this edition the number of participating countries reached a new record of 23 delegations, the winner was the performer of Puerto Rico, Rafael José, who had previously represented his country back in 1978. Honduras In The OTI Festival
Honduras as the most of the Central American countries, took part for the first time in the OTI Festival in the edition of 1974, which was held in the Mexican coastal city of Acapulco. TNH (Televisión Nacional de Honduras), the OTI member broadcaster of that country selected Moisés Canelo as their first entrant, who achieved a respectable ninth place. After a withdrawal in 1975, the Honduran broadcaster rejoined the event and participated every year till the last show, which was held again in Acapulco. History As many Central American countries in the OTI Festival, Honduras didn't really have a successful participation in the contest. In fact, TNH never managed to get a victory for Honduras during their history in the event, but reached the top ten on six occasions. OTI Festival 1974
OTI Festival 1974 was the third edition of the annual OTI Festival. It was held in Acapulco, Mexico, following the country's victory at the OTI Festival 1973, 1973 contest with the song "Que alegre va María" by Imelda Miller. Organised by the Organización de Telecomunicaciones de Iberoamérica, Organización de Televisión Iberoamericana (OTI) and host broadcaster Televisa, the contest was held at the Ruiz de Alarcón Theatre on Saturday 26 October 1974 and was hosted by Raúl Velasco, Raul Velasco and Lolita Ayala. This festival was marked by the debut of seven countries, which led to a sudden rise in the number of participating entries.
