Moira (foaled April 11, 2019) is a Canadian-bred Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 2022 Woodbine Oaks and Queen's Plate. She set a track record in the Queen's Plate while becoming the 38th filly to win the race. Background Moira is a bay filly who was bred in Ontario by Adena Springs. She was sired by Ghostzapper, the 2004 American Horse of the Year after winning the Breeders' Cup Classic. Her dam, Devine Aida, is a graded stakes-placed daughter of Unbridled's Song. The family traces to Begum, a blind daughter of Alydar who became an outstanding producer. She was sold at the 2020 Keeneland Yearling Sale for $150,000 to X-Men Racing, a group of friends put together by bloodstock agent Donato Lanni. Ghostzapper (foaled April 6, 2000) is a Thoroughbred racehorse who won the Breeders' Cup Classic in 2004, outdistancing Roses in May by three lengths in a track record time of 1:59.02. His gate-to-wire Classic victory completed a 4-for-4 season, which earned him the 2004 Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year. He was also ranked "''World's Top Ranked Horse''" for 2004 as compiled by the World Thoroughbred Racehorse Rankings. Although he only raced eleven times in his career, his performances earned him the highest accolades from horse racing publications. The Canadian Triple Crown (branded as the OLG Canadian Triple Crown for sponsorship reasons) is a series of three Thoroughbred horse races run annually in Canada which is open to three-year-old horses foaled in Canada. Established in 1959, the series is unique in that it shares the same distances as its American counterpart but is contested on three different track surfaces. Woodbine Racetrack is a race track for Thoroughbred horse racing in the Etobicoke area of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
