Mohammed Shakir (Indian Politician)
Mohammed Shakir ( te, మొహమ్మెద్ షాకిర్; ur, مہمد شاکر; born 16 July 1948) is a former politician for the Anantapur district. Previously, he served as a Minister in the state cabinet as well as in the AP Legislative Assembly. Early life He was born on 16 July 1948 to Late Haji M. Abdul Rahman, He was the fifth among the 16 children in the family. He studied in the local Zilla Parishad High School and later on in 1974 graduated with B.Sc from Veerashaiva College in Bellary becoming the first person in his family to have a degree. After completing his education he moved back to his home town of Kadiri and became a textile trader. In the same year he married Shahnaz Shakir. Career In 1983 he was elected to the AP Legislative Assembly and served in the cabinet of Shri N.T. Rama Rao garu. In 1989 he contested the elections again and became a MLA. Kadiri is a major city in Sri Sathya Sai District the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a ''Special Grade'' Municipal City Council and headquarters of Kadiri Mandal and Kadiri Revenue Division. Kadiri Taluka ('Tehsil') was the largest taluk in the state of Andhra Pradesh when there was taluka system in Andhra Pradesh Kadiri is known for its jasmine and saffron flowers. Kadiri saffron is widely sold in Andhra and Karnataka. The Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy Temple is reminiscent of Kadiri to the people of Karnataka, Telangana And Tamil Nadu. In the 1989 United Andhra Pradesh Assembly election, Indian National Congress swept the polls, winning 181 of the 294 seats in the Assembly. As the leader of the Congress Legislature Party, Marri Chenna Reddy was elected the Chief Minister. The TDP won only 74 seats from the 216 seats won by it in 1985 because of so much anti on TDP. The United Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election of 1983 was held in January 1983 in 294 constituencies in United Andhra Pradesh, India. The elections were conducted to elect the government in the state of Andhra Pradesh for the following five years. The TDP secured a huge majority winning 202 seats. The Indian National Congress secured only 60 seats. The election was held in January 1983 instead of August 1983 as scheduled.
