Mohammed Amar Al-Kathiri
Mohammed Amar Al-Kathiri ( ar, محمد عامر الكثيري) (born 7 December 1978) is an Omani Association football, footballer. Career Al-Kathiri is originally from Salalah, Oman. He was awarded the Asian Young Footballer of the Year prize by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in 1995. He also played at the 1995 FIFA U-17 World Championship and won the Golden Ball award for the Most Valuable Player. During his club career, Al-Kathiri played for his hometown club, Al-Nasr (Salalah), Al-Nasr, in addition to Mirbat SC, Mirbat. Salalah
Salalah ( ar, صَلَالَة, Ṣalālah) is the capital and largest city of the southern Omani governorate of Dhofar. Its population in 2009 was about 197,169. Salalah is the third-largest city in the Sultanate of Oman, and the largest city in the Dhofar Province. Salalah is the birthplace of the former sultan, Qaboos bin Said. Salalah attracts many people from other parts of Oman and the Persian Gulf region during the monsoon/''khareef'' season, which spans from June to September. The Asian Football Confederation is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in some countries/territories in Asia and Oceania. It has 47 member countries most of which are located in Asia. Australia, formerly in Oceania Football Confederation, OFC, joined AFC in 2006. Al-Nasr (Salalah)
Al-Nasr Sports, Cultural and Social Club ( ar, نادي النصر الرياضي و الثقافي و الاجتماعي; also known locally as ''Al-Malik'', or "The King", or just plainly as Al-Nasr) is an Omani sports club based in Salalah, Oman. The club is currently playing in the Oman Professional League, top division of Oman Football Association. Their home ground is Al-Saada Stadium, but they also recognize the older Salalah Sports Complex as their home ground. The FIFA U-17 World Championship 1995, the sixth edition of the tournament, was held in the cities of Guayaquil, Portoviejo, Quito, Ibarra, Ecuador, Ibarra, Cuenca, Ecuador, Cuenca, and Riobamba in Ecuador between 3 and 20 August 1995. The Oman national football team ( ar, منتخب عُمان لكرة القدم) represents Oman in men's international football and is controlled by the Oman Football Association. Although the team was officially founded in 1978, the squad was formed some time before that and a proper football association was formed only in December 2005.
