Mohammad Ponir Hossain
Mohammad Ponir Hossain (born 10 May 1989) is a Bangladeshi photographer and journalist. He won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography as part of Reuters' photography staff for his pictures of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. Pulitzer authorities selected sixteen photos by seven Reuters journalists, three taken by Hossain. Early life and education Hossain was born on 10 May 1989 in Guakhola village of Sirajdikhan in Munshiganj. He is the son of Mohammad Jamal Uddin and Alija Begum, the third of five siblings. He started his education at Basail Government Primary School in Munshiganj. He passed SSC from Khwaja Ajmeri High School in Chittagong in 2005 and HSC from Dhaka City College in 2007. He completed his BA Honors in Marketing from the North South University in 2015. Sirajdikhan Upazila
Sirajdikhan ( bn, সিরাজদিখান) is an upazila of Munshiganj District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Villages in Sirajdikhan include Gopal Pur. Its total area is 180.19 km2. A large quantity of vegetables for the capital Dhaka is supplied by this upazila. Demographics As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Sirajdikhan has a population of 229,085. Pulitzer Prize For Photography
The Pulitzer Prize for Photography was one of the American Pulitzer Prizes annually awarded for journalism. It was inaugurated in 1942 and replaced by two photojournalism prizes in 1968: the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography and "Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography", which was later renamed Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography in 2000. The Pulitzer Prizes were established by the bequest of Joseph Pulitzer, which suggested four journalism awards, and were inaugurated beginning 1917.
