Mohammad Oraz

	Mohammad Oraz Mohammad Oraz (Kurdish language, Kurdish: Mihemed Ewraz, fa, محمد اوراز; 1969 in Naghadeh, Iran – September 7, 2003 in Islamabad, Pakistan) was an Iranian mountain climber. He was the second Iranian climber after Hooman Aprin to conquer Mount Everest, reaching the summit in 1998. Biography Oraz was born in September 1969, in Naghadeh, West Azerbaijan. Oraz accompanied the writer Rory Stewart for three months during his walk across Iran. In 2003, during an attempt to ascend Gasherbrum I, Oraz and his colleague, Moqbel Honarpajouh, were hit by an avalanche. The pair were transferred to Shifa Hospital in Islamabad, Honarpajouh survived but Oraz died 20 days later on 7 September. 	Naqadeh Naqadeh (; ; ), formerly known as Sulduz, is the main town of Naqadeh County, West Azerbaijan Province in Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 72,975, in 18,320 families. Name Naqadeh is the current name of the town (and county). The former name, known as Solduz (also spelled Sulduz, in Kurdish: Sundus), in reference to the Mongol Sulduz tribe, may have replaced an older name (now lost) during the reign of the Ilkhanid ruler Ghazan in 1303. Geography Naqadeh is situated on the bank of the Bayzawa river, encompassing an old artificial mound. The county in which Naqadeh is located is to the south-west of Lake Urmia on the lower course of the Gadar river. Demographics The town has a Shia Azerbaijani (Karapapakh) majority, with a Sunni Kurdish minority. 	Shishapangma Shishapangma, also called Gosainthān, is the 14th-highest mountain in the world, at above sea level. In 1964, it became the last of the 8,000-metre peaks to be climbed. This was due to its location entirely within Tibet and the restrictions on visits by foreign travelers to the region imposed by Chinese authorities. Name Geologist Toni Hagen explained the name as meaning a "grassy plain" or "meadow" (') above a "comb" or a "range" (' or ') in the local Tibetan language, thereby signifying the "crest above the grassy plains". On the other hand, Tibetologist Guntram Hazod records a local story that explains the mountain's name in terms of its literal meaning in the Standard Tibetan language: ', which means "meat of an animal that died of natural causes", and ', which means "malt dregs left over from brewing beer".
