Mohammad A. Arafat
Mohammad A. Arafat (born 2 May 1973) is a Bangladeshi academic, politician, parliamentarian and the current minister of state for information and broadcasting. Arafat is a faculty member at the Canadian University of Bangladesh's School of Business. His academic interests include, among others, small businesses and their relations with economic growth, capital, connectivity etc. He was a former senior lecturer at the School of Business, Independent University, Bangladesh. Arafat is also the chairman of the Dhaka-based not-for-profit social-advocacy organisation, the Suchinta Foundation. The foundation has, among others, done extensive advocacy work in poverty eradication in Bangladesh through entrepreneurship development. Shah Abu Muhammad Shamsul Kibria (Bengali: শাহ্ আবু মুহাম্মদ শামসুল কিবরিয়া ; 1 May 193127 January 2005), known as SAMS Kibria or Shams Kibria, was a Bangladeshi economist, diplomat and politician. Joining the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1954, Kibria served in a number of diplomatic missions for Pakistan. In 1971, at the height of the Bangladesh Liberation War, Kibria, an ethnic Bengali, dissociated himself from the Pakistani foreign service and declared allegiance to the Mujibnagar government. After the independence of Bangladesh, he served as the Director General of the Political Affairs department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh and twice as the foreign secretary of Bangladesh. Panna Kaiser (born 25 May 1950) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a former member of Jatiya Sangsad selected for the women's reserved seats during 1996–2001. She was awarded 2021 Bangla Academy Literary Award in the research on liberation war category. Early life and career Kaiser completed her master's in Bengali literature from the University of Dhaka in 1969. In 1996, she was selected as one of the 30 reserved seats for women to serve as a member of parliament. She has been contributing in a child organization named Khelaghar. Shahidullah Kaiser (16 February 1927 – disappeared 14 December 1971) was a Bangladeshi novelist and writer. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1969, Ekushey Padak in 1983 and Independence Day Award in 1998. Early life and education Kaiser was born in the Mazupur village (in present-day Feni District) as Abu Nayeem Mohammad Shahidullah. Atiqul Islam ( bn, আতিকুল ইসলাম; born 1 July 1961) is a Bangladeshi politician, businessman and the current mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami ( bn, বাংলাদেশ জামায়াতে ইসলামী, Bānglādēsh Jāmāyatē Islāmī, Bangladesh Islamic Assembly), previously known as Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, or Jamaat for short, was the largest Islamist political party in Bangladesh.
