Mohamed Jassim Mahdi
Mohamed Jassim Mahdi (born 1 January 1971) is an Iraqi football midfielder who played for Iraq in the 1996 Asian Cup. He also played for Al-Zawraa. Career Mohammed Jassim joined Al-Zawra in 1987 and played with Al-Zawra throughout his career until his retirement in 2003. Al-Zawraa Sports Club ( ar, نادي الزوراء الرياضي) is an Iraqi sports club based in Utayfia, Karkh District (near Tigris River), Baghdad. Their football team compete in the Iraqi Premier League, the top-flight of Iraqi football. Al-Zawraa are the most decorated club in Iraq having won 14 Premier League titles, 16 Iraq FA Cups and 5 Iraqi Super Cups, all national records. Al-Zawraa also won the Iraqi Elite Cup a joint-record 3 times. Al-Zawraa have won the domestic double a record eight times and became only the second Iraqi team to win the domestic quadruple in the 1999–2000 season. The Iraq national football team ( ar, منتخب العراق لكرة القدم) represents Iraq in international football and is controlled by the Iraq Football Association (IFA), the governing body for football in Iraq. Iraq's usual home venue is the Basra International Stadium. Iraq have made one FIFA World Cup appearance in 1986, scoring their only goal against Belgium. The 1996 AFC Asian Cup was the 11th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The finals were held in the United Arab Emirates between 4 and 21 December 1996. Saudi Arabia defeated hosts United Arab Emirates in the final match in Abu Dhabi. Ahmed Radhi
Ahmed Radhi Humaiesh Al-Salehi, ( ar, Ø£Øمد راضي هميش الصالØÙŠ, 21 April 1964 – 21 June 2020) was an Iraqi footballer who played as a forward. Regarded as one of Iraq and Asia's best players of all-time, Radhi scored the only Iraqi goal in the FIFA World Cup during its 1986 edition, a low shot to the corner of the net against Belgium in a 2–1 defeat. He was voted as the Asian Footballer of the Year in 1988. Club career Radhi started to make a name for himself after he was forced to switch childhood club Al-Zawraa for new powerhouse Al-Rasheed, the club founded and owned by Saddam Hussein's eldest son Uday.
