Mohamed Helmy (footballer)
Mohamed Helmy ( ar, محمد حلمي) is a retired Egyptian footballer and the current manager of Tala'ea El Gaish SC. Career Helmy was a former striker, and most recently coach of El Zamalek, a post from which he resigned in 2016 following successive Champions League defeats to South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns. He also played for the Egyptian national football team, and was instrumental in helping Zamalek win the Egyptian Cup on May 25, 2008. Mohammed Hassan Helmy
Mohammed Hassan Helmy ( ar, محمد حسن حلمي; 13 February 1912 – 5 November 1986) commonly known as Helmy Zamora, was an Egyptian footballer who played for Zamalek and Egypt as a left winger. He was the club's President for 3 periods, between 1967 and 1984. He represented Egypt in the 1936 Summer Olympics, but he did not play in any matches. 1987 Afro-Asian Club Championship
The 1987 Afro-Asian Club Championship, was the 2nd Afro-Asian Club Championship competition endorsed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Asian Football Confederation (AFC), contested between the winners of the African Champions' Cup and the Asian Club Championship, it was the last time were contested over a single match; from 1988 until 1998 the competition was held in a two-legged tie format. The match took place on 5 February 1988, in Cairo Stadium in Cairo, Egypt, between Zamalek, the 1986 African Cup of Champions Clubs winner, and Furukawa Electric (Now JEF United Ichihara), the 1986 Asian Club Championship winner. Zamalek won the match 2–0 and became the first African team to win the championship. The Afro-Asian Club Championship, sometimes referred to as the Afro-Asian Cup, was a football competition endorsed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Asian Football Confederation (AFC), contested between the winners of the African Champions' Cup and the Asian Club Championship, the two continents' top club competitions. The Egyptian Premier League ( ar, الدوري المصري الممتاز), also known as WE Egyptian Premier League (WE EPL) after the addition of title sponsor WE, is a professional association football league in Egypt and the top level of the Egyptian football league system. The league comprises 18 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Egyptian Second Division. Seasons mostly run from August to May. Unlike most other leagues, all games are played all over the week.
