Phani Majumdar
Phani Majumdar was a pioneering Indian film director, who worked in Hindi cinema, most known for his film ''Street Singer'' (1938) starring K.L. Saigal noted for its song, '' Babul Mora Naihar Chhooto Jaye'', Meena Kumari classic ''Aarti'' (1962) and ''Oonche Log'' (1965). He also worked in Singapore, where he notably made ''Hang Tuah'' (1955) in Malay, which was nominated for the Golden Bear at the 7th Berlin International Film Festival. Career Starting in 1930s, with leading film director P.C. Barua at New Theatres Studio of Calcutta founded by B. N. Sircar, who during this period made classics like ''Devdas'' (1935). He moved to Bombay in 1941 and worked with Bombay Talkies studio, he made ''Tamanna'' (1942) with Suraiya and ''Mohabbat'' (1943) with Shanta Apte and ''Andolan'' (1951). Mohabbat (1985 Film)
''Mohabbat'' is a 1985 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by Bapu. The film stars Anil Kapoor and Vijayta Pandit. It is a remake of the 1982 Tamil film ''Thooral Ninnu Pochchu''. Plot Shekhar is in love with Roopa and would like to marry her. Roopa is the only daughter of Choudhury, the apple of his eye, and he agrees to get her married to Shekhar. Shekhar informs his parents, his dad, and his stepmother, and together they all go to Choudhury's house to finalize the marriage. At this point, Shekhar's stepmother asks for a hefty sum as dowry, which the Choudhury is unable to afford, and thus the proposal for marriage falls flat, with the Choudhury vowing that he will get his daughter married elsewhere. Mohabbat (translation: ''Love/Romance'') is an Indian Hindi romantic film directed by Reema Nath and starring Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Kapoor, and Akshay Khanna. The film was released on 19 September 1997. Plot The wealthy Kapoor family consists of Madanlal, his wife Geeta, daughter Roshni, and son Gaurav. One day while Gaurav is returning home from a bank, he is attacked by a group of men led by Shiva, but a young man named Rohit Malhotra comes to his rescue.
