Georgios Modis
Georgios Modis ( el, Γεώργιος Μόδης; 14 May 1887 – 18 June 1975) was a Greek jurist, politician, writer and participant in the Macedonian Struggle. Biography Georgios Modis was born in 1887 in Monastir (modern Bitola). He graduated from the gymnasium of Monastir in 1906 and immediately joined the guerrilla group of the Cretan Georgios Volanis who was active in the area of Mariovo. He participated in many fights with Bulgarian komitadjis and Ottoman troops and was wounded in a battle with the Ottoman army in Besitsa, near Mariovo. After his injury he abandoned the armed struggle and the Internal Organisation of Monastir appointed him secretary in the Metropolis of Moglena and Florina in 1909, where he served for a short time. Then, he returned to Monastir and was a reporter in the local newspaper ''Fos'' ("Light") that was published by the Political Club of Monastir. Theodoros Modis
Theodoros Modis (Greek: Θεόδωρος Μόδης) was a Greek lumber merchant and scholar from Monastiri (today's Bitola, in North Macedonia). He was among those who helped the founders of the Revolutionary Internal Organization in its formation, in order to defend Greek interests in Macedonia (Ottoman Empire at the time.). He was assassinated in his shop by Bulgarian komitadji on September 4, 1904. Theodore Modis (born August 11, 1943) is a strategic business analyst, futurist, physicist, and international consultant. He specializes in applying fundamental scientific concepts to predicting social phenomena. In particular, he uses the law of natural growth in competition as expressed by the logistic function or S-curve to forecast markets, product sales, primary-energy substitutions, the diffusion of technologies, and generally any process that grows in competition. He is a vehement critic of the concept of the Technological Singularity. He has suggested a simple mathematical relationship between Entropy and Complexity as the latter being the time derivative of the former. He currently lives in Lugano, Switzerland. Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer
The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) is a satellite-based sensor used for earth and climate measurements. There are two MODIS sensors in Earth orbit: one on board the Terra (satellite), Terra (Earth Observing System, EOS AM) satellite, launched by NASA in 1999; and one on board the Aqua (satellite), Aqua (EOS PM) satellite, launched in 2002. MODIS has now been replaced by the VIIRS, which first launched in 2011 aboard the Suomi NPP satellite. The MODIS instruments were built by Santa Barbara Remote Sensing. They capture data in 36 spectral bands ranging in wavelength from 0.4 μm to 14.4 μm and at varying spatial resolutions (2 bands at 250 m, 5 bands at 500 m and 29 bands at 1 km). The Modistae ( Latin for Modists), also known as the speculative grammarians, were the members of a school of grammarian philosophy known as Modism or speculative grammar, active in northern France, Germany, England, and Denmark in the 13th and 14th centuries. Their influence was felt much less in the southern part of Europe, where the somewhat opposing tradition of the so-called "pedagogical grammar" never lost its preponderance.
