Modified Toy Orchestra
The Modified Toy Orchestra is an experimental music group from Birmingham, England. Brian Duffy, the main member and creator of the orchestra makes the group's instruments by circuit bending sound making devices, such as toy keyboards, and educational spelling toys. History The band was founded by Brian Duffy as a one-man project. He originally began by sampling sounds from toys to use in his electronic music, but after disassembling a Texas Instruments Speak & Spell he realised he could modify them to produce new sounds, turning the toys themselves into instruments. He began looking in car boot sales and skips for more electronic toys to modify and use in performances. Experimental Music
Experimental music is a general label for any music or music genre that pushes existing boundaries and genre definitions. Experimental compositional practice is defined broadly by exploratory sensibilities radically opposed to, and questioning of, institutionalized compositional, performing, and aesthetic conventions in music. Pram (band)
Pram are a British post-rock band formed in Birmingham, England in 1988 by Rosie Cuckston (vocals, keyboards), Matt Eaton (guitar), Andy Weir (drums), and Samantha Owen (bass). Subsequent lineups have changed frequently, most notably with Cuckston's departure in 2008. Their electronic pop sound, described by AllMusic as "equally quaint and unsettling," employs unconventional instruments and draws on stylistic influences such as krautrock, exotica, and dub. A pocket is a bag- or envelope-like receptacle either fastened to or inserted in an article of clothing to hold small items. Pockets are also attached to luggage, backpacks, and similar items. ''Plastic Planet'' is the debut studio album by GZR (known at the time as g//z/r), a heavy metal band featuring Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath. The album also features Fear Factory vocalist Burton C. Bell. Album information The song "Giving Up the Ghost" was lyrically directed at Tony Iommi and his continuation of the Black Sabbath name at the time. "Detective 27" indirectly references Batman whose first appearance in 1939 was in DC Comics' Detective Comics #27. The song "The Invisible" was featured on the soundtrack to the 1995 film ''Mortal Kombat'', although the song did not appear in the film itself. The artist on the album was listed as "Geezer" instead of "g//z/r". Samples from the British TV movie ''The Woman in Black'' can be heard on "Séance Fiction". Resonance 104.4 FM is a London based non-profit community radio station specialising in the arts run by the London Musicians' Collective (LMC).
