Modeste Demers (11 October 1809 – 28 July 1871) was a Roman Catholic Bishop and missionary in the Oregon Country. A native of Quebec, he traveled overland to the Pacific Northwest and preached in the Willamette Valley and later in what would become British Columbia. Early life Modeste Demers was born 11 October 1809, in Saint-Nicolas, Quebec, in Lower Canada.Corning, Howard M. ''Dictionary of Oregon History''. Binfords & Mort Publishing, 1956. Of French descent, he studied at the seminary of Quebec and was ordained on February 7, 1836 by Archbishop Joseph Signay. Modeste M'bami (9 October 1982 – 7 January 2023) was a Cameroonian professional footballer who played as a midfielder. M'bami played for clubs in France, Saudi Arabia, and Cameroon, most notably Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille, both of which in Ligue 1. Club career Born in Yaoundé, M'bami started his career in his home country playing for Dynamo Douala but was quickly spotted by foreign clubs. M'bami joined Sedan during the summer of 2000. Despite his young age, M'bami played ten matches in his first season in the Division 1 and helped his club to finish fifth. He rapidly became a team regular and played 60 matches in the two following seasons. In 2003, the club was relegated to Ligue 2 and M'Bami decided to sign a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain for €5 million after his agent Willie McKay halted advanced discussions with Wolverhampton Wanderers. Anthony Benedict Modeste (born 30 August 1975) is a retired Grenadian football player who represented the Grenada national football team, currently manager of Camerhogne. Club career Educated at Grenada Boys' Secondary School, Modeste began his career at Grenadian club Queens Park Rangers SC. After seven years at the club, Modeste moved to Jamaica, signing for Hazard United in 2002. In his first season at Hazard United, Modeste won the 2002–03 National Premier League and JFF Champions Cup, scoring five league goals in the process, as Hazard United relocated from May Pen to Portmore, renaming to Portmore United in 2003. In 2005, Modeste helped Portmore complete another double. In 2007, Portmore won another JFF Champions Cup, winning the league the following season.
