Moderne architecture, also sometimes referred to as Style Moderne or simply Moderne, Jazz Age, Moderne, jazz modern or jazz style, describes certain styles of architecture popular from 1925 through the 1940s. closely allied to Art Deco. PWA Moderne
The Art Deco style, which originated in France just before World War I, had an important impact on architecture and design in the United States in the 1920s and 1930s. The most famous examples are the skyscrapers of New York City including the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and Rockefeller Center. It combined modern aesthetics, fine craftsmanship and expensive materials, and became the symbol of luxury and modernity. Streamline Moderne
Streamline Moderne is an international style of Art Deco architecture and design that emerged in the 1930s. Inspired by aerodynamic design, it emphasized curving forms, long horizontal lines, and sometimes nautical elements. In industrial design, it was used in railroad locomotives, telephones, toasters, buses, appliances, and other devices to give the impression of sleekness and modernity. In France, it was called the ''style paquebot'', or "ocean liner style", and was influenced by the design of the luxury ocean liner SS ''Normandie'', launched in 1932. Grand Hotel Moderne
The Grand Hotel Moderne is a 106 room four star hotel located in Lourdes, France. History The hotel was built in 1896 by Jean Soubirous (the cousin of Saint Bernadette Soubirous) and his wife Benoite Toulet. The architect chosen to oversee the construction was Jean-Marie Lacrampe, who is also the same architect behind other structures in Lourdes including the town hall, the ramps to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and Castle Soum. At the time of its opening, the hotel was the first in the region to be equipped with an elevator and private bathrooms, hence its name "Le Moderne". The Moderne ( ) is a 30-story Tower block, apartment building in Milwaukee. It stands at 348 feet (106 meters) tall, making it the tallest building in the city west of the Milwaukee River. The Gibson Moderne is an electric guitar model prototyped by Gibson in 1957.
