Modern pentathlon competitions at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara was held from October 15 to October 16 at the Hipica Club. Yane Marques
Yane Márcia Campos da Fonseca Marques (born January 7, 1984 in Afogados da Ingazeira) is a modern pentathlon athlete from Brazil. She became nationally known despite the obscurity of her sport in the country after winning a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics, the first Latin American to medal and the only woman to do so. Biography Hailing from the Sertão of the Brazilian state of Pernambuco, Marques moved to the state capital Recife at the age of 11 so her older siblings could attend college. One year later, she became a swimmer for Clube Náutico Capibaribe, where she competed alongside future Olympian Joanna Maranhão. Marques change of sport occurred in 2003, when she was invited to a biathle competition held by Pernambuco's recently inaugurated modern pentathlon federation, part of the then-new Brazilian confederation's plan to spread the sport. Mexico hosted the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico from October 14 to 30, 2011. Mexico has competed in every edition of the Pan American Games since the first games held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mexico began their participation having achieved 782 medals in total with 155 of them gold. On August 24, 2011 the head of CONADE, Bernardo de la Garza stated that the Mexican athletes would look to break the country's historic record of achieving 23 gold medals in a single Games, which happened at the 1995 Pan American Games in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Margaux Isaksen (born October 7, 1991) is a Modern pentathlon, modern pentathlete from the United States who competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, People's Republic of China, China, the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Esteban Bustos Rodríguez (born December 16, 1992) is a modern pentathlon, modern pentathlete from Chile. He was born in Santiago, Chile, Santiago. He won a bronze medal at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, and received an automatic qualifying berth for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, following the footsteps of his brother Cristián Bustos (pentathlete), Cristián, who had previously competed in 2008 Summer Olympics, Beijing, four years before.
