A mobile station (MS) comprises all user equipment and computer software, software needed for communication with a Cellular network, mobile network. The term refers to the global system connected to the mobile network, i.e. a mobile phone or mobile computer connected using a mobile broadband adapter. This is the terminology of 2G systems like GSM. In 3G systems, a mobile station (MS) is now referred to as user equipment (UE). In GSM, a mobile station consists of four main components: *Mobile termination (MT) - offers common functions such as: radio Transmission (telecommunications), transmission and Handoff, handover, Speech coding, speech encoding and decoding, error detection and correction, Signaling (telecommunications), signalling and access to the SIM. Mobile Station (Amtrak)
Mobile station was a train station in Mobile, Alabama. It was built in 1956 and demolished in 2007. History Built in 1956 by the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, it replaced an earlier station on the same site. Former Louisville & Nashville services which utilized the station included the '' Pan-American'' (discontinued, 1971) and ''Humming Bird'' (discontinued, 1969). Through an agreement between the two rail companies, until 1970, the Southern Railway operated the ''Crescent'' through Mobile. Until 1971, the L&N operated the New Orleans–Jacksonville, Florida ''Gulf Wind'' through the station in cooperation with the Seaboard Coast Line (prior to 1967, Seaboard Air Line). In previous years the company additionally operated the ''New Orleans-Florida Limited,'' replete with diner and sleeper service, that made the trip during daylight hours in Florida for most of the route. The Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Passenger Terminal is a historic train station in Mobile, Alabama, United States. Architect P. Thornton Marye designed the Mission Revival style terminal for the Mobile and Ohio Railroad. It was completed in 1907 at a total cost of $575,000. The Mobile and Ohio merged with the Gulf, Mobile and Northern Railroad in 1940 to form the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad.
