Mjøsa Bridge
The Mjøsa Bridge ( no, Mjøsbrua) is a box girder bridge that crosses Lake Mjøsa in Innlandet county, Norway. The east side of the bridge begins in the town of Moelv in Ringsaker Municipality and the village of Biri in Gjøvik Municipality. The bridge is long, the longest span is , and the clearance to the water below is . The bridge has 21 spans and one vehicular lane in each direction. The Mjøsa Bridge was opened in 1985. The government is currently planning to replace the bridge with a new four-lane bridge over the lake as part of an expansion of the E6 highway around Moelv. Work (or construction) on the (new, wooden) bridge has been paused as of Q3 2022, as a consequence of the 2022 collapse of the Tretten Bridge in Norway. Mjøsa
Mjøsa is Norway's largest lake, as well as one of the deepest lakes in Norway and in Europe. It is the fourth-deepest lake in Norway. It is located in the southern part of Norway, about north of the city of Oslo. Its main tributary is the river Gudbrandsdalslågen flowing in from the north; the only distributary is the river Vorma in the south. Inflows would theoretically need 5.6 years to fill the lake. With an average depth of about , most of the lake's volume is under sea level. The average outflow of the lake (measured from 1931–1982) is which is about . Biri, Norway
Biri is a village in Gjøvik Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located along the western shore of the lake Mjøsa, about north of the town of Gjøvik. The Norwegian National Road 4 highway runs through the village which is near the Mjøsa Bridge about halfway between the towns of Lillehammer and Gjøvik. The village has a population (2021) of 1,495 and a population density of . History The village of Biri was the administrative centre of the old Biri Municipality which existed from 1838 until 1964 when it was merged into Gjøvik Municipality. Tretten Bridge
Tretten Bridge was a road bridge in Tretten, Øyer, Norway that carried county road 254 over Gudbrandsdalen and the E6 road. The bridge was a truss bridge in glulam and steel and was opened on 15 June 2012. It collapsed on the morning of 15 August 2022, after only ten years and two months in operation. Permission was given for a temporary replacement bridge in October 2022, on the condition that work above the waterline is finished before the spring flood in April 2023. Construction There were two types of beams used for the trusses on the bridge: glued laminated timber beams were slanted, while the steel beams were vertical; weathering steel was used. The bridge replaced a steel truss bridge built in 1895 at the same location. The pier on the west side from the original bridge was in good condition and was used again after reinforcement. Moelv
Moelv is a town in Ringsaker Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The town is located along the shores of the lake Mjøsa, about south of the town of Lillehammer and about the same distance northwest of the town of Hamar. Moelv is the second largest urban area in Ringsaker municipality (after Brumunddal). The town has a population (2021) of 4,465 and a population density of . Situated at the shores of lake Mjøsa at the mouth of the Moelva river, the town is bordered by green, forested hills farmland. The town consists of a few shopping centers, the Moelv Station along the Dovrebanen railway line, and some pubs and restaurants.
