Zoram Nationalist Party is recognized as the state political party in Mizoram, India. The party known as formerly Mizo National Front (Nationalist). It is led by former MP Lalduhoma. MNF(N) was formed in 1997 through a split in the Mizo National Front. The party won 2 seats in the state assembly in both the 2003 and 2008 state elections. Lalduhawma
Lalduhoma (alternatively spelled Lalduhawma, born 22 February 1949) is an Indian politician and a former Indian Police Service officer from Mizoram. Resigning from the security service to the Prime Minister of India, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, he was elected as Member of parliament, Lok Sabha, Member of Parliament to the Lok Sabha from Mizoram in 1984. He left the Indian National Congress, the party from which he was elected, for which he was disqualified from the parliament. He became the first MP to be discharged upon Parliamentary system, anti-defection law in India. Lalduhoma is the founder and president of Zoram Nationalist Party, a regional political party in Mizoram. Mizoram
Mizoram () is a state in Northeast India, with Aizawl as its seat of government and capital city. The name of the state is derived from "Mizo people, Mizo", the endonym, self-described name of the native inhabitants, and "Ram", which in the Mizo language means "land." Thus "Mizo-ram" means "land of the Mizos". Within India's northeast region, it is the southernmost landlocked state, sharing borders with three of the Seven Sister States, namely Tripura, Assam and Manipur. The state also shares a border with the neighbouring countries of Bangladesh and Myanmar. Like several other northeastern states of India, Mizoram was previously part of Assam until 1972, when it was carved out as a Union Territory. Mizo National Front
The Mizo National Front ( MNF) is a regional political party in Mizoram, India. MNF emerged from the Mizo National Famine Front, which was formed by Pu Laldenga to protest against the inaction of the Indian central government towards the famine situation in the Mizo areas of the Assam state in 1959. It staged a major uprising in 1966, followed by years of underground activities. In 1986, it signed the Mizoram Accord with the Government of India, renouncing secession and violence. The MNF then began contesting elections and has formed state government in Mizoram three times. It is currently the state's ruling party, with its president, Zoramthanga, as the Chief Minister of Mizoram. The Zoram People's Movement (abbreviated ZPM) is an alliance of seven party to form non Indian National Congress non Mizo National Front government formed by Mizoram People's Conference . It is an alliance movement, the members are Mizoram People's Conference Zoram Nationalist Party, Zoram Exodus Movement, Zoram Decentralisation Front, Zoram Reformation Front and Mizoram People's Party. Later all these parties merged into a single entity.
