Mizo Hlakungpui Mual
Mizo Hlakungpui Mual (Mizo Poets' Square) is a monument to commemorate Mizo language, Mizo poets. It was set up in 1986 at the southern edge of Khawbung Village, Mizoram state, North-East India, about 100 miles northwest of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Origin In time, the local people decided to include all the Mizo Poets and writers who deserved recognition for their contributions to Mizo language#Mizo literature, Mizo literature. The Committee agreed, and the selection procedures go as – Writers who have produced at least 3–4 books, and have had a prolonged influence on Mizo language#Mizo literature, Mizo literature would be selected while Poets whose songs/poems have exceptional literary value would also be included. Writers/poets may only be included in Hlakungpui Mual five years after their death. Zirsangzela Hnamte
Zirsangzela Hnamte (1 December 1952 - 15 October 2002) was a writer of Mizo literature. He started composing at 17. He composed over 75 songs. Many of his songs are now used as study material in high school and colleges of Mizoram. Personal Hnamte was born in Sialsuk in 1952 and was the eldest among 8 siblings. He is said to be introverted. Nuchhungi Renthlei
Nuchhungi Renthlei (1 January 1914 – 1 January 2002) was an Indian poet, singer and school teacher, known for her poems written in Mizo language. She was the founder of ''Girls' Auxiliary'', an organization for women's rights, which she founded in 1939. The Government of India awarded her the fourth highest civilian honour of Padma Shri in 1986. Biography Nuchhungi Renthlei was born on the New Year day of 1914 to Hmingliana at Aizawl, in the northeast Indian state of Mizoram, She did her schooling at the Baptist Missionary Society, at Langlui, Mizoram and started writing at a young age. She continued her writing during her career as a teacher and was also a noted singer during her early years. She is credited with several poems, children's songs and stories and ran a dance school to teach traditional dances to children. She was married to R.
