Mitch Thompson
Mitch Thompson is a baseball coach and former player, who is the current head baseball coach of the Baylor Bears. He played college baseball at Cloud County Community College in 1984, transferring to Bacone College in 1985, before ultimately transferring to Fort Hays State Tigers baseball, Fort Hays State where he played from 1986 to 1988. He served as the head coach of the McLennan Community College, McLennan Highlanders (2013–2022). Playing career Thompson grew up in Goodland, Kansas. He attended Cloud County Community College as a freshman. He would transfer to Bacone College for the 1985 season. Thompson made his final transfer to Fort Hays State University, where he was a two-time Academic All-American and a 1988 team captain. Baylor Bears Baseball
The Baylor Bears baseball team represents Baylor University in NCAA Division I college baseball. The team belongs to the Big 12 Conference and plays home games at Baylor Ballpark. The Bears are currently led by head coach Mitch Thompson, who was hired in 2022. History The early years (1902–1948) Baylor first fielded a baseball team in 1902 as Baylor's second varsity sport. Pitcher Ted Lyons was a player on Baylor's Southwest Conference (SWC) Championship team in 1923. He would go on to be enshrined in Cooperstown after an outstanding career with the Chicago White Sox. 2023 NCAA Division I Baseball Season
The 2023 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, begins on February 17, 2023.
