Mitch Nilsson
Mitchell Caine Nilsson (born 24 May 1991) is an Australian professional baseball third baseman for the Heidenheim Heideköpfe of the Bundesliga (baseball), Baseball Bundesliga and the Brisbane Bandits of the Australian Baseball League (ABL). Mitchell is the son of former professional player Gary Nilsson, cousin of Jay Nilsson, Jacob Nilsson, Daniel Nilsson and nephew of Bob Nilsson and former All-Star, Dave Nilsson. He is a previous member of the MLB organization Cleveland Indians and has most recently spent time with Kotlarka Prague in the Czech Extraleague. He has played with the Australia schoolboy team,[3] Australia AAA team, AA team twice[4] and single A (Cal Ripken team).[5] Nilsson made his debut for the Queensland Rams as a catcher in the 2010 Claxton Shield. Bob Nilsson
Robert "Bob" Nilsson was the oldest of the four Nilsson brothers and one of the greatest relievers in the history of Australian baseball leagues. Bob's brother Dave Nilsson was the first Australian All-Star in MLB, his brother Gary Nilsson played in the minors and Ron Nilsson also played in Australia for one year. Bob's son Jay Nilsson began his minor league career in 2006. Bob Nilsson was the first Australian of the modern era to sign a professional contract with an MLB team, inking a deal with the Cincinnati Reds in 1978. He never made it to the US minor leagues, though. Playing history When the Australian Baseball League was founded in 1989–1990, Bob was one of the early stars. 2019 WBSC Premier12
The 2019 WBSC Premier12 was an international baseball championship featuring the 12 highest-ranked national teams in the world, held by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC). It was the second WBSC Premier12 event. The championship was held from November 2 to 17, 2019, in Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. The tournament served as a qualifier for baseball at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Two quota spots were allocated, with Team Mexico as the top finisher from the Americas earning one spot, and Team South Korea as the top-finishing team from the Asia/Oceania region (excluding Team Japan, which already qualified as host) earning the other. Japan defeated South Korea in the championship game, and the bronze medal game was won by Mexico over Team USA. The is the national team representing Japan in international baseball competitions. It won the World Baseball Classic in 2006 and 2009, as well as WBSC Premier12 in 2019. The team is currently ranked 1st in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. The team has participated in every Summer Olympic Games since the first demonstration tournament in 1984, through when baseball was discontinued following the 2008 Beijing Games. The 2017 World Baseball Classic (WBC) was an international professional baseball competition, composed of 16 competing nations, held from March 6 to March 22, 2017. It was the fourth iteration of the World Baseball Classic. The first-round hosts were Seoul, Tokyo, Miami, and Zapopan. The second-round hosts were Tokyo and San Diego, and the championship round was played in Los Angeles. Twelve of the 16 competing nations qualified based on their performance during the first round of the 2013 tournament; the remaining four nations were the winners of four qualification tournaments that took place in February, March, and September 2016. The Mannheim Tornados are a baseball and softball club from Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg. Founded in 1975, it is the oldest continuing baseball club in Germany. The first men's team plays in the first division of the Baseball Bundesliga and has won 11 championships, the most of any club to reach the top tier of German baseball.
