Mississippi Highway 494 (MS 494) is a state highway connecting Union, Mississippi, Union at Mississippi Highway 15, MS 15 to Mississippi Highway 19, MS 19 northwest of Meridian, Mississippi, Meridian. Route description MS 494 begins about southeast of downtown Union (but within the town limits) at the MS 15 bypass of the town. It heads southeast through a mix of open fields and woods passing some homes along the way. It passes through the community of Little Rock, Mississippi, Little Rock then generally heads more easterly passing to the north of Duffee, Mississippi, Duffee. After entering Lauderdale County, Mississippi, Lauderdale County from Newton County, Mississippi, Newton County, MS 494 begins to curve back towards the southeast. It enters the community of Schamberville, Mississippi, Schamberville and forms part of the border of the census designated place of Collinsville, Mississippi, Collinsville. Union, Mississippi
Union is a town in Neshoba and Newton counties, Mississippi. The population was 1,988 at the 2010 census. Geography Union is located at (32.571320, -89.118118). Most of the town is in Newton County with a portion extending north into adjacent Neshoba County. In the 2000 census, 1,496 of the town's 2,021 residents (74.0%) lived in Newton County and 525 (26.0%) in Neshoba County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.4 square miles (8.9 km), all land.
