Missing You (Dan Fogelberg Song)
"Missing You" is a song written and recorded by singer/songwriter Dan Fogelberg in 1981 at the Bennett House studios in Franklin, Tennessee with producer and Elvis Presley bassist Norbert Putnam and drummer Joe Vitale who was known for his work providing a Latin feel to recordings with Stephen Stills Manassas Band and on CSN's song Dark Star. Previously unreleased, Missing You was included on his ''Greatest Hits (Dan Fogelberg album), Greatest Hits'' LP and released simultaneously. "Missing You" peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100. It reached number 29 in Canada. The song was a much bigger Adult Contemporary hit. It reached number 11 on the Canadian AC chart and number six on the U.S. chart. Daniel Grayling Fogelberg (August 13, 1951 – December 16, 2007) was an American musician, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. He is known for his 1970s and 1980s songs, including "Longer" (1979), "Same Old Lang Syne" (1980), and "Leader of the Band" (1979). Fogelberg recorded “Leader” as a tribute to his father for his 1979 album Phoenix, but felt it was too sentimental for the album and didn't release it until 1981 on The Innocent Age. Soft rock is a form of rock music that originated in the late 1960s in Southern California and the United Kingdom which smoothed over the edges of singer-songwriter and pop rock, relying on simple, melodic songs with big, lush productions. Full Moon Records was an American record label existing from 1974 to 1992. Prominent signed acts included Chicago, Joe Walsh and Dan Fogelberg. Beginning in 1974 with Fogelberg, Full Moon Records was originally a subsidiary "spin-off" label from Epic Records that was created by Irving Azoff. The first album to be released under the label was Fogelberg's second album, ''Souvenirs''. In 1980, distribution moved from CBS to Warner Bros. (movie soundtracks included). Some of the artists affected by the acquisition were Chicago, Grand Funk Railroad, and Johnny Lee. The company was absorbed by Warner Bros. in 1992. The only exception was Fogelberg, whose Full Moon recordings bore the Full Moon logo and were distributed by Epic throughout. The label was briefly revived in 2009 for the release of Fogelberg's final studio album ''Love in Time'', with distribution thru Universal Music Enterprises.
