Miss Universe 2013
Miss Universe 2013 was the 62nd Miss Universe pageant, held at the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow, Russia on November 9, 2013. At the end of the event, Olivia Culpo of the United States crowned Gabriela Isler of Venezuela as Miss Universe 2013. It is Venezuela's seventh victory, the second-most in the pageant's history. Contestants from 86 countries and territories competed in this year's pageant. The pageant was hosted by Thomas Roberts and Mel B, with Jeannie Mai as backstage correspondent. Russian singer Emin Agalarov, American pop rock band Panic! at the Disco, and American singer-songwriter Steven Tyler performed in this year's pageant. María Gabriela de Jesús Isler Morales (born 21 March 1988) is a Venezuelan TV host, fashion model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe 2013, gaining placement as the seventh Miss Universe of her country. Isler is the founder of ''Universe of Blessings Fund'', a charity organization devoted to female empowerment and counseling. In addition, Isler is currently the national director of Miss Venezuela, succeeding Osmel Sousa. Early and personal life Isler was born in the city of Valencia, to a Swiss-German father and Venezuelan mother, but has studied and lived in Maracay since she was little. Miss Universe 2012 was the 61st Miss Universe pageant, held at the PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on December 19, 2012. At the end of the event, Leila Lopes of Angola crowned Olivia Culpo of the United States as Miss Universe 2012. It is the United States' first victory in 15 years, and the eighth victory of the country— the most in the pageant's history. Contestants from 89 countries and territories competed in this year's pageant, surpassing the previous record of 86 contestants in 2006.
